<br /> 7. Water restrictors/aerators on all faucets <br /> B. Limit percent of total landscape area planted in exotic, <br />highwater use turf grasses <br /> 1. Encourage use of pervious paving <br /> 2. Encourage use of native or adapted plants (that require <br />less water) with educational materials <br />IV. Retrofitting Existing Structures <br /> A. Distribute pamphlet that addresses how to retrofit for <br />water conservation <br />V. Leak Detection <br />None. <br />VI. Water Reuse and Recycling <br /> A. City Planning and Building Department identify large <br />scale new developments for on-site water reuse/recycling and <br />revise planning requirements and building codes to effect <br />implementation. These should include: <br /> 1. New Planned District Developments, PDDs, Municipal <br />utility Districts, MUDs, and Multi-Family housing projects for <br />dual system greywater installations to provide irrigation and <br />limited indoor use such as toilet flushing. <br /> 2. New Industrial Developments for process and operations <br />water reuse/recycling. <br /> 3. New commercial operations using large quantities of <br />water such as car washes. <br />VII. Public Education <br /> A. Print on-line water saving tips on water bill every <br />month; four times a year put bill in envelope with conservation <br />information. <br /> B. Budget $10,000 for the development and distribution of <br />brochures', pamphlets on water conservation and related topics. <br /> C. Hold a Xeriscape workshop at the Fish Hatchery, upon the <br />completion of the demonstration garden. <br /> D. Organize a speaker's bureau of knowledgable people in the <br />field of water conservation to speak to civic clubs and other <br />organizations. <br /> E. Instigate a low water consumption incentive program next <br />Spring. <br /> F. Have an information booth at the Business Expo this <br />October. <br />VIII. Surface Water Alternatives <br /> A. Pursue the use of treated wastewater for non-potable <br />purposes. <br /> B. Set aside an additional $88,000 to purchase surface <br />water. <br /> C. Continue the five cent per 1,000 gallon surchagre on <br />water bills for surface water development. <br /> D. Decide the need/viability of a surface watèr treatment <br />plant; conduct additional studies if necessary. <br /> E. Select or appoint a blue ribbon commitee for a city bond <br />election to include a surface water treatment plant. <br />
