Jones Walker has the expertise and contacts to assist the City in working with the U.S. Corps of Engineers to obtain funding for the San Marcos River Restoration Project. Mr. Bose inquired to whether the City can work with the University to expand the grant to both. Mr. O'Leary stated the City is at a step system and the University is at the second stage, the City is at the first step. Mayor Narvaiz stated the University started on this before the City did and they are very committed to working with us. Ms. Robertson inquired to whether the University has a better chance in getting this grant, because they are one year ahead of the City. Mayor Narvaiz stated she feels the City can make this happen without the University. Mr. Jones stated what is being done now will lay down the groundwork to enter into any aspect of where the City needs to be and the company knows the process to help guide us through. Mr. Thomaides inquired since this item is primarily handled by this firm, and already working with another firm, will the City have further discussion to take this up. Mr. O'Leary stated the other firm works with congressional Staff and as much with the bureaucratic agencies. The Council then voted unanimously for adoption of the Resolution. Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration approval of one appointment to the Downtown Master Plan Task Force. Mr. Guerrero moved to appoint Michelle Johnson, Chamber of Commerce representative, which passed unanimously. Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration approval of one appointment to Transportation Advisory Board. Mr. Guerrero moved to appoint Roel Elizalde and Mr. Robertson moved to appoint Moe Johnson. On roll call for the following vote was recorded: Elizalde: Narvaiz, Guerrero and Jones. Johnson: Thomaides, Couch, Bose and Robertson. Mayor Narvaiz introduced a public hearing and for consideration adoption of a Zoning Ordinance, the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MAROCS, TEXAS, APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE FUTURE LAND USE MAP FROM COMMERCIAL TO LOW DENSITY RESIDENTIAL, FOR AN 1.703 ACRE, MORE OR LESS, TRACT OF LAND LOCATED AT 1100 PROSPECT STREET; FOR AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY BY REZONING THIS TRACT FROM "D" DUPLEX DISTRICT TO "SF -6" SINGLE FAMILY DISTRICT; INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES.
