No one did, so Mayor Narvaiz closed the public hearing. <br />Mr. Thomaides moved for adoption of a Zoning Ordinance, and Mr. Guerrero <br />seconded the motion. Mr. O'Leary stated the Stone Creek Crossing has made <br />the PDD a good project. Ms. Robertson thanked the Planning and Zoning <br />Commission and Planning Department for their hard work. Mayor Narvaiz <br />thanked the developer for getting this property back on the tax rolls. The <br />Council then voted unanimously for adoption of the Zoning Ordinance. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration Item 13, removed from the <br />Consent agenda, adoption of a Resolution, the caption which was read as <br />follows: <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />APPROVING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND PROFESSIONAL SERVICE <br />INDUSTRIES, INC. FOR THE PROVISION OF MATERIALS TESTING AND INSPECTION <br />SERVICES IN CONNECTION WITH THE SAN MARCOS CONFERENCE CENTER PROJECT; <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THIS AGREEMENT ON BEHALF OF <br />THE CITY AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />Mr. Guerrero moved for adoption of Resolution, and Ms. Couch seconded the <br />motion. Mr. Bose inquired to whether this was included in the original cost <br />of the Conference Center. Mr. O'Leary stated this contractor will do the <br />testing to make sure the Conference Center is being built correctly. This <br />isn't the original contractor, these guys work for us and will go out and <br />test to see if things are built correctly. He stated this is the scientific <br />way and will look at the multi -story projects. Laurie Anderson, Director of <br />Engineering, stated under the State Law covering the design build <br />contracts, the City must hire a third party to inspect. She also stated <br />this expense was included in the budgeted amount. Mr. Bose requested Staff <br />to note on the Agenda Request Form items Staff have already put money in <br />place and that this is not approval for additional funds. Mr. O'Leary stated the Parks and Recreation Department has been <br />working to secure funding from the U.S. Corps of Engineers for the San <br />Marcos River Restoration Project.
