Regular Meeting March 6, 2007 Page3 Adoption of Ordinance on third and final reading: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS AMENDING THE TRAFFIC REGISTER MAINTAINED UNDER SECTION 82.067 OF THE SAN MARCOS CITY CODE BY AMENDING THE SPEED LIMIT OF MILL STREET; INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES. Adoption of Resolutions: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS ACCEPTING A FEMA FIREFIGHTER ASSISTANCE GRANT, APPROVING MATCHING FUNDS, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, ADOPTING A REVISED HOUSING INFILL DEVELOPMENT INCENTIVES POLICY; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Mayor Narvaiz stated she is moving Item 28 up. Mayor Narvaiz introduced a discussion regarding Wide -Lite, Inc. expansion and improvement project and direction to Staff. Mr. O'Leary introduced Joe Murphy, CEO of Wide -Lite. Mr. Murphy provided the Council with an update on the expansion and improvement project. He stated he feels this is a great collaboration between the City and Wide -Lite. He stated Wide -lite has been here since 1974 and they received a limited Tax Abatement. He stated Wide -Lite received atax abatement for eight years starting in 2006, the building expansion was completed in 2005. He stated they spent $1 million on property and $15 million on improvements and went from 150 employees in 2004 to 350 complete in 2006. He stated Wide -Lite will continue to grow in the future and he feels they are a good corporate citizen. Mayor Narvaiz stated she is moving Item 29 up. Mayor Narvaiz introduced discussion regarding 2006 Community Survey Results and direction to Staff. Mr. O'Leary stated the Annual community survey was conducted again by Dr. Tajalli. He stated this survey is done through a random method to San Marcos utility customers. Dr. Tajalli stated this is a complete report an extra effort that it is in proper language without statistical jargon. He stated he has done this survey for the last seven years. He stated this survey gives citizens an opportunity to talk about the services they receive. He also stated this report is available on the City website and at the Library. Dr. Tajalli provided a brief description regarding the differences in attitudes of races, homeowners vs. non homeowners. He stated most residents are satisfied with the services they are receiving. He encouraged the citizens to review this report. Mr. Thomaides stated he reads this report every year. He feels this report is helpful to the City and helps guide the Council on issues. He inquired to whether Dr. Tajalli has compared this data to other communities that do a survey. Dr. Tajalli stated a similar study is done for the City of Austin and their findings
