<br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />July 3, 2006 <br /> <br />Page 7 <br /> <br />moved for adoption of the Zoning Ordinance, and Mr. Guerrero seconded the <br />I motion. Mr. Jones stated he would be voting against this proposed Zoning <br />because of the compatibility of the area. Mayor Narvaiz stated the <br />Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of the zoning on an 8-0 <br />vote. Mr. Mihalkanin inquired as to the location of the property. Mr. <br />Pennington stated this property is located half a mile off IH35 behind <br />Prime Outlet. Mr. Thomaides inquired as to the proposed use of the <br />property. Mr. Pennington stated the applicants are proposing a project <br />that includes approximately 20.65 acres as an RV Park, and a one-acre <br />portion as a King 9Hotel, with the remaining 8.52 acres used for a cul-de- <br />sac and two lots for future development. Mr. Mihalkanin inquired as to the <br />types of developments allowed in GC Zoning. Mr. Pennington stated GC <br />Zoning allows everything except a trailer park. On roll call for adoption <br />of the Zoning Ordinance, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Thomaides, Guerrero, Mihalkanin, Narvaiz, Diaz and Bose. <br /> <br />NAY: Jones. <br /> <br />ABSTAIN: None. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced a discussion regarding approval to change date of <br />City Council Regular Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, August 1, 2006 due to <br />I National Night Out observance (proposed date: Wednesday, August 2, 2006, <br />at 6:00 p.m.). Mr. Mihalkanin moved for approval to change date of City <br />Council Regular Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, August 1, 2006 to Wednesday, <br />August 2, 2006, and Mr. Thomaides seconded the motion. On roll call for <br />the approval to change date, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Thomaides, Guerrero, Mihalkanin, Narvaiz, Diaz and Bose. <br /> <br />NAY: None. <br /> <br />ABSTAIN: Jones. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced a discussion regarding the paperless agenda <br />update. Mr. O'Leary stated Janis K. Womack, City Clerk, provided a written <br />update which was included in the Council packets. He stated Staff has <br />found a few errors and once these errors are corrected, then the paperless <br />agenda will go live. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced a discussion regarding presentation on <br />Bike/Pedestrian Projects and update on Craddock Street and Drainage <br />I Project. Laurie Anderson, Director of Engineering, provided a powerpoint <br />presentation regarding bike, pedestrian projects and projects under <br />construction. Mr. Thomaides thanked everyone who is interested in <br />bike/pedestrian issues and for speaking. He stated he has noticed there is <br />no place to lock up a bike in the downtown area.
