Regular Meeting November 20, 2007 Page 2 <br />received three presentations from City Manager search firms and they <br />provided direction. She also stated Council will continue the remaining <br />Executive Session items after the Regular Meeting. <br />Pastor Bob Garringer of the Westover Baptist Church lead the Invocation. <br />Boy Scout Troop 116 lead the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Citizen Comment Period. 1) Ted Breihan <br />provided written comments. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Staff Report. Ms. Jamison stated she did not <br />have a report at this time. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the City Council Reports. 1) CJ Morgan, Student <br />Liaison, stated Texas State and other Universities are considering a <br />Resolution regarding enabling Self Defense. He stated the Resolution <br />provides that individual Universities can allow Concealed Handgun Permit <br />Holders to bring guns on campus. He stated the Student Government is also <br />requesting the University to be considered a permanent early voting site <br />for the entire early voting. He stated the Student Government is also <br />working with the Boys and Girls Club project, were the children interviewed <br />Patrick Rose. 2) Mr. Guerrero stated he read several Proclamations on the <br />Mayor's behalf. He stated he also attended the Veteran's Day Parade and <br />breakfast, which was a great success. He wished everyone a safe and happy <br />Thanksgiving. He also wanted to thank the Police and Fire Department in <br />advance for their help at the Outlet Malls during the coming holidays. 3) <br />Mr. Thomaides wished everyone a happy Thanksgiving and he hoped everyone <br />would be able to spend time with family. He also thanked the citizens for <br />allowing him to travel to TML, and for having the budget to travel and <br />learn more about city government. 4) Mr. Jones stated he attended Hays <br />Caldwell Annual Business Meeting, were an Annual Report was provided. He <br />stated he attended the National League of Cities Conference where he <br />attended several committee meetings. He also forwarded CDs to the Council <br />of the conference. He stated he also had a good time at the Veteran's <br />Parade and breakfast. 5) Ms. Couch stated she read a Proclamation on <br />behalf of the Mayor for the Women's Hall of Fame. She stated she also <br />attended the Municipal Court Open House. She thanked all the volunteers <br />for their work and informed the citizens that the deadline to sign up for <br />the Boards and Commissions was approaching. She also wished everyone a <br />happy Thanksgiving. 6) Mr. Bose stated he enjoyed serving food at the <br />Veteran's Parade. He also encouraged everyone to continue to do their <br />shopping at the Outlet Malls. 7) Ms. Porterfield stated she spoke at Gary <br />Job Corp as a Council Elect for the Hunger and Homeless Week. S) Mayor <br />Narvaiz stated she provided a written Mayor's report to the Council. She <br />also thanked former Mayor Chiu for going to San Diego with Austin Chamber <br />of Commerce on her behalf. She stated she also attended the Conference <br />Center Topping Off luncheon, which was a wonderful event. She stated she <br />
