City Council Meeting Minutes December 2, 2014 <br />the impacts of the rainfall on Saturday, November 22, 2014, to construction projects and <br />measures underway to address issues. Following the presentation and discussion Staff will <br />evaluate options and methods to lessen impacts of rainfall on construction projects that lead to <br />sediment flowing into the river. <br />6:00 PM <br />III. Invocation <br />Debbie Morningstar Adams provided this evening's invocation. <br />IV. Pledges Of Allegiance - United States And Texas <br />Joseph Storch, a 4th Grade Student at Hernandez Elementary, led this evening's pledges. <br />V. 30 Minute Citizen Comment Period <br />Sam Huenergardt, addressed the Council about the Greater San Marcos Partnership and that he <br />is proud of how they have grown in the past 4 years. He stated that CTMC has invested over <br />$100,000 in the partnership. He gave examples of how the hospital has grown and improved <br />service to their patients. He thanked the Mayor and Jared and asked that the Council continue to <br />support the Partnership. <br />Denise Trauth, addressed the Council regarding the Greater San Marcos Partnership. She <br />explained that prior to the establishment of this Partnership that Texas State was not actively <br />involved in Economic Development with San Marcos. She further explained that the partnership <br />only acts an agent and does not do this for any other City in Hays or Caldwell Counties. GSMP <br />helps market the University to outside employers, and that a recent report showed that Texas <br />State has an economic impact of 1.1 billion in Hays County alone. This impact has doubled <br />since being involved with GSMP. She thanked the Council and asked that they continue to <br />support GSMP. <br />Jed Ciudaj, addressed the Council about the Greater San Marcos Partnership and their positive <br />interface with companies to locate to San Marcos. He explained how GSMP helped their <br />company leaders at Corvac Composites, who is a tier 1 automotive parts supplier, come to San <br />Marcos. He asked the Council to continue to fund this Partnership. <br />Frank Arredondo, addressed the Council as a former Mayor of San Marcos and voiced his <br />support of the Greater San Marcos Partnership and their staff. He knew that IH 35 would be an <br />economic generator, but they couldn't figure out how to get a handle on it when he was on <br />Council. He thanked the Council that had the foresight to create the Greater San Marcos <br />Partnership. Since 2010 there have been about 900 new jobs added. GSMP has made better use <br />of the funding provided by San Marcos. He has noticed a change and he sees the effort of the <br />GSMP. He stated that we need living wage opportunities and asked the Council to please help <br />them to make San Marcos home. <br />Rob Roark, addressed the Council about the tragic accident that redirected folks down Hunter <br />Road and Wonder World Dr. on November 25. He expressed concerns about first responders <br />not being able to respond to emergencies if necessary due to all of the congestion on the roads. <br />He stated that the City needs to look at contingency planning when things happen. <br />Chuck Nash, spoke in favor of the San Marcos Partnership. He spoke very highly of the <br />Partnerships strength and asked the Council to please stay in support of it. <br />Brian Bondy, addressed the Council regarding the Greater San Marcos Partnership and his <br />City of San Marcos page 2 <br />
