Charles Shields, 932 Stagecoach Trail, said that he hoped the Council would let us put the ball in
• their court and let them run with it. He recommended a prohibition of feeding deer. To remove
deer is a difficult step, but prohibition of feeding could be done. He came to San Marcos with
visions of a beautiful lawn, but the deer eat everything. People are not informed about the
diseases the deer carry. Deer carry a variant of mad cow disease and tuberculosis.
Bob Seese, 1004 Stagecoach Trail, sang an original song about Willow Creek and the excessive
deer population.
Steve Harvey, 1] 16 Mountain View, spoke regarding change and community. We need change.
We don't want it thrust upon us, and it is more fun when in we are in the driver's seat.
Change also requires leadership. He thanked Council for their leadership in the improvement to
recycling. Leadership calls for conviction and staying the course. When he thinks of community
he thinks of relationships. There is a long term orientation and a need to help each other. How
we remember, recognize and reward others speaks to our character as a community. The Green
Guy and TDS are terrific partners, and he encouraged all to respect the Green Guy and their role
in the community.
Dianne Wassenich, 1 1 Tanglewood, thanked the Council and TDS for the education campaign
launched. It is wonderful to see all the banners flying. There was an article in the Record and a
school event. The River Foundation and the neighborhood communities are also doing all they
can to get the word out. There are plans in the future for pilot programs which will help it be a
success.
Rob Roark> 1804 Hunter Road thanked Council for listening to the people. That is what is
needed and is the bedrock of a constitutional republic. Regarding the animal ordinance, he asked
Council to please remember the promises made two weeks ago that it will be voluntary.
Regarding the project on Hunter Road, he asked Council to realize that the deck is stacked
against people like him who only have three minutes to present a point of view. He asked that
they look at some way to incorporate the same advantages a developer has to go out on the
internet or Channel 8 News.
Sharri Boyett, 2631 Oak Haven, spoke on the PetSmart Charities grant to spay and neuter free-
roaming cats. This is the beginning of life saving measures for cats. This will lessen the number
of euthanasia's and will provide an additional resource to the people.
8. Staff Reports
There were no staff reports.
9. Citv Council Reports
There were no City Council reports.
CONSENT AGENDA
•
RM033109 Minutes Page 3
