94 <br />Emergency Meeting <br />November 16, 1981 <br />Page 2 <br />By consensus of the Council Section 27-7, Fees, the company will <br />pay $200.00 annually and $60.00 per taxi. Section 27-11, Applica- <br />tion for taxicab driver's permit, was amended to reflect that appli- <br />cations for all taxicab drivers' permits on each driver would be <br />filed with the city secretary and would reflect insurance coverage, <br />and that if insurance coverage was cancelled the city secretary's <br />office would be notified, by consensus of the Council. Mayor Crad- <br />dock moved that Section 27-15, Vehicles-equipment and maintenance, <br />be amended to require inspection according to state law, required <br />to be inspected the month the car is converted to taxi use and Mr. <br />Brown seconded the motion. On roll call the following vote was re- <br />corded: <br />AYE: Brown, Cavazos, James, Craddock, Kreczmer and Mendez. <br />NAY: Norris. <br />ABSTAIN: None. <br />Mayor Craddock moved that Section 27-18, be amended to require an odo- <br />meter in each taxi, to be inspected annually by the San Marcos Depart- <br />ment of Public Safety to ensure proper calibration and Mrs. Norris <br />seconded the motion. On roll call the following vote was recorded: <br />AYE: Brown, James, Craddock and Norris. <br />NAY: Cavazos, Kreczmer and Mendez. <br />ABSTAIN: None. <br /> <br />Mayor Craddock moved that Section 27-19, Rates, be amended to set rates <br />at 50 cents base plus 10 cents per 1/10th mile and Mrs. Norris seconded <br />the motion. Mrs. Norris then amended the motion to give a 10 percent <br />discount to senior citizens and Mr. James seconded the motion. On <br />roll call the following vote was recorded: <br />AYE: Brown, Cavazos, Craddock, Kreczmer, Mendez and Norris. <br />NAY: James. <br />ABSTAIN: None. <br />The Council then voted on the original motion of Mayor Craddock. On <br />roll call the following vote was recorded: <br />AYE: James, Craddock and Norris. <br />NAY: Brown, Cavazos, Kreczmer and Mendez. <br />ABSTAIN: None. <br />The motion failed. <br />Mr. James then moved that Section 27-19, Rates, not be amended but <br />remain as is and Mr. Cavazos seconded the motion, which passed unani- <br />mously. <br />Mrs. Norris moved that Section 27-24, Taxicab service, be amended to <br />require taxi service be offered between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and <br />12:00 a.m. instead of 24 hours a day and if taxi companies wish to <br />remain open longer, it is optional, not required and Mr. Kreczmer <br />seconded the motion. On roll call the following vote was recorded: <br />AYE: Brown, Cavazos, Craddock, Kreczmer, Mendez and Norris. <br />NAY: James. <br />ABSTAIN: None. <br />Mrs. Norris moved that the Ordinance be tabled for the amendments to <br />be made until November 23, 1981 and Mr. Kreczmer seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously.
