Sec. 90.125. Odometer required. <br />An odometer is required for each vehicle operated pursuant to this article. The odometer shall <br />be inspected yearly by the police department to ensure proper calibration. <br />(Code 1970, § 27-18) <br />Sec. 90.126. Rates of fare; rate card required. <br />(a) Every holder of a certificate of public convenience and necessity issued pursuant to this <br />article shall file a statement of the rates charged by taxicabs operated pursuant to the <br />certificate with the city secretary. <br />(b) Every taxicab operated under this article shall have a rate card setting forth the rates of <br />fare displayed in a place in view of all passengers. The rate card shall correspond to the <br />rates on file pursuant to subsection (a) of this section. <br />(Code 1970, § 27-19) <br />Sec. 90.127. Reserved. <br />Sec. 90.128. Solicitation of business. <br />It is unlawful for any driver of any taxicab to drive or cruise about on the city streets seeking <br />passengers who have not ordered or called for a taxicab. <br />(Code 1970, § 27-21) <br />Sec. 90.129. Additional passengers. <br />No driver shall permit any other person to occupy or ride in the taxicab, unless the person first <br />employing the taxicab shall consent to the acceptance of the additional passenger. There shall <br />be an additional base rate charge of $0.50 for each passenger carried in addition to the <br />original passenger. <br />(Code 1970, § 27-22) <br />Sec. 90.130. Refusal to carry orderly passengers prohibited. <br />No taxicab driver shall refuse or neglect to convey any orderly person, upon request, unless <br />previously engaged or unable or forbidden by this article to do so. <br />(Code 1970, § 27-23) <br />Sec. 90.131. Service. <br />(a) A certificate holder shall maintain a central place of business and shall remain open <br />from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, for the purpose of receiving calls <br />and dispatching cabs. All calls for services inside the city during these hours shall be <br />answered as soon as reasonably possible. If the services cannot be rendered within a <br />reasonable time, the holder shall notify the prospective passenger how long it will be <br />before the call can be answered and the reason for the delay. Any holder who refuses <br />to accept a call anywhere in the city during these hours when the holder has available <br />cabs, or who fails or refuses to provide high quality service, shall be deemed to violate <br />this article, and the violation shall be grounds for revocation of the certificate. <br />(b) In addition to operating during the hours described in subsection (a), a certificate holder <br />may operate cabs during other hours at the holder's discretion. During the additional <br />hours of operation, the holder shall comply with all requirements of this article.
