They <br />have met and exceeded their budget forecasts and were $300,000 ahead in the first quarter. <br />33. Presentation and update by KULA Media Group. <br />A representative from KULA Media Group reported that the status of kulabyte is well and <br />getting better. He showed a Fox news story released last week about Grace Memorial Church <br />that provided their service via live video streaming because of the recommendation to avoid <br />gatherings because of the flu. Some of their milestones include: 1) they were chosen by the IBM <br />Interactive Media Division for broadcasting major sporting events; 2) they delivered solutions in <br />March 2009 to a major sports network for the Fall 2009 season for a high definition website; 3) <br />they were chosen in December 2008 for the SPAWAR Military Satellite Solution with 800 units <br />over a period of five years to the Army and Army reserves (a $5-6 million contract); 4) they are <br />the exclusive live solution for Focus on the Family live web out of Denver; 5) they won the <br />contract for Fox Speed Network online in January 2009 for high definition broadcasting; 6) they <br />signed with TVNaute in France as a major distributor in April 2009; and 7) they are partnering <br />with Broadfaith to deliver churches and faith based organizations. He reported that over $4.75 <br />million investor capital is invested in kulabyte. <br />Challenges include: 1) they had to outsource approximately 80% last year; 2) their engineering <br />• workforce was reduced 50% in the fourth quarter of 2008; 3) they are actively seeking a new San <br />Marcos location of one third to one half of their current space for a corporate headquarters; 4) <br />they were set to do a large Series A Venture round of funding and had to abandon that in October <br />due to capital availability; and 5) the San Marcos contribution through the Rent Help Program <br />was terminated June 2008. <br />34. Update and discussion on the current Bulky Waste Program, and provide direction to <br />staff. <br />MOTION: Upon a motion made by Councilmember Couch and a second by Councilmember <br />Porterfield, the City Council voted five (5) for and two (2) opposed, with Councilmembers Jones <br />and Terry voting against, to table this item until the next meeting. The motion carried. <br />35. Update on the new homepaze for the City of San Marcos website. <br />Melissa Millecam, Director of Communications and Intergovernmental Relations, gave the City <br />Council a look at the new homepage. Webmaster Denise Molina created the design in-house. <br />The links are indicative of the top ten hits the website has received historically.
