<br />85 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Regular Meeting February 8, 1993 Page 3 <br /> <br /> <br />Mayor Morris opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to <br />speak for or against the Ordinance. No one did, so Mayor Morris <br />closed the public hearing. Mr. Guerra moved for approval of the <br />Ordinance on first reading and Ms. Kissler seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Morris introduced for consideration a public hearing and <br />approval of an Ordinance on.first reading, the caption which was <br />read as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, CHANGING THE NAME FOR LAUREL LANE BETWEEN EAST MIMOSA <br />CIRCLE AND ED J. L. GREEN DRIVE TO LAUREL RIDGE; PROVIDING FOR <br />PUBLICATION AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Mayor Morris opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to <br />speak for or against the Ordinance. No one did, so Mayor Morris <br />closed the public hearing. Mr. Plummer moved for approval of the <br />Ordinance on first reading and Ms. Kissler seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Morris introduced for consideration a public hearing and <br />approval of an Ordinance on first reading, the caption which was <br />read as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, CHANGING THE NAME FOR HOUSTON ROAD BETWEEN BUGG LANE AND <br />RIVERSIDE DRIVE TO CHEATHAM STREET; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION <br />AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Mayor Morris opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to <br />speak for or against the Ordinance. No one did, so Mayor Morris <br />closed the public hearing. Ms. Kissler moved for approval of the <br />Ordinance on first reading and Mr. Guerra seconded the motion. The <br />Council discussed the similarities of some of the names of streets <br />such as Houston and Hughson and expressed concern for the problems <br />it may cause the 9-1-1 program. On roll call the following vote was <br />recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Moore, Hart, Morris, Guerra, Kissler. <br /> <br />NAY: Hernandez, Plummer. <br /> <br />ABSTAIN: None. <br /> <br />Mayor Morris introduced for consideration adoption of an Ordinance <br />on emergency, the caption which was read as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, . <br />TEXAS, ORDERING A JOINT GENERAL AND SPECIAL ELECTION BY THE <br />CITY, HAYS COUNTY AND THE SAN MARCOS CONSOLIDATED INDEPENDENT <br />SCHOOL DISTRICT TO BE HELD ON MAY 1, 1993 FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br />ELECTING A CITY COUNCIL MEMBER, PLACE THREE, AND A CITY COUNCIL <br />MEMBER, PLACE FOUR; AND TO BE HELD WITHIN HAYS COUNTY FOR THE <br />PURPOSE OF ELECTING A UNITED STATES SENATOR; AND TO BE HELD <br />- WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br />ELECTING SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEMBERS, FOR <br />SINGLE-MEMBER DISTRICTS ONE, TWO AND THREE; ESTABLISHING <br />POLLING PLACES FOR THIS ELECTION; MAKING PROVISIONS FOR THE <br />CONDUCT OF THE ELECTION;. AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br /> <br />Ms. Kissler moved for adoption of the Ordinance on emergency and Mr. <br />Moore seconded the motion. Mr. Moore moved to amend the Ordinance <br />on Page 4 to change an early voting site from WalMart to San Marcos <br />Plaza, 901 Highway 80 East, and Mr. Hernandez seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously. The Council then voted unanimously for <br />adoption of the Ordinance on emergency. <br /> <br />Mayor Morris introduced for cpnsideration adoption of an Ordinance <br />on emergency, the caption which was read as follows: <br />
