Page 3
Sunset Advisory Commission
Individual Report
Sunset recommendations: Convene the Board at least once a year or
once every 18 months and have the Airport Manager and the Chairman
of the Airport Commission give all members an update on past
accomplishments and future activities at the Airport. This would
not only ensure the viability of the Board but would also provide
a forum for keeping the citizens of Martindale, Caldwell County,
Guadalupe County, and Hays County informed on the status of the
airport. This was al so proposed by the 1989 Sunset Advisory
Commission.
LIBRARY BOARD
Sunset Observation: The members are totally committed to their
work. The librarian furnished the Board with information on
library usage. There was a great deal of concern over the
availability of the meeting rooms as well as outside grant money
for adult education programs. The librarian and her staff have
done an excellent job with operations of the library. A policy
for attendance should be made.
Sunset recommendations: None
MAIN STREET ADVISORY BOARD
Sunset Observation: The commission held its meetings at the Old
Fish Hatchery which seemed completely appropriate to its
purposes. The chair of the comm1.SS1.on, Bill Plummer, was both
pro fe s s ional and competent. The commission's duties were
interesting. There was a great deal of enthusiasm on the part of
both the membership and the staff regarding the Main Street
ideal. The sessions were well-attended by the public and other
interested parties.
Sunset recommendation: This Commission seems to be fulfilling a
useful and necessary function.
COMMISSION FOR MINORITIES
Sunset Observation: Very good interaction and input between
members. The commission has progressive members with good ideas.
Sunset recommendations: None.
