<br />Page 5 <br />Sunset Advisory Commission <br />Individual Report <br />SAN MARCOS ELECTRIC UTILITY BOARD <br />Sunset Observations: The Board wishes to have greater public <br />participation at its meetings. <br />Sunset recommendation: None. <br />SAN MARCOS INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION BOARD <br />To our knowledge this board did not meet during this period. <br />Sunset Recommendations: None. <br />SENIOR CITIZENS ADVISORY BOARD <br />Problems reported by the Board: Need more money and assistance <br />from either the City or County to meet the need s of the ever <br />increasing senior citizen population. Need better facilities. <br />Sunset Observation: This Board was established by resolution, <br />however, all other City boards and commissions have been <br />established by ordinance. The establishing resolution assigned <br />the Director of Parks and Recreation and the Executive Director of <br />the Community Action Program as ex-officio, non-voting members of <br />the Board. The Community Action Executive Director, Ms. Ofelia T. <br />Vasquez, is commended for her outstanding support of this Board. <br />However, it did not appear that the Parks and Recreation Director <br />was actively involved in Board activities. The Parks and <br />Recreation Director was not aware that he was a member of this <br />Board. He has been notified of this, and he will arrange for <br />attendance at future board meetings. <br />Sunset recommendation: Board members are only appointed for two <br />years~ recommend future members be appointed for a term of three <br />years. This Board should be established by Ordinance rather than <br />by resolution. The Parks and Recreation Director has been <br />notified of this and has agreed to become active in the <br />meetings of the Board. <br />COMMISSION FOR WOMEN <br />Observation: The commission has interesting worthy causes. The <br />City should look at other facets possibly renaming the commission <br />so that leadership from both genders is recognized within a hall <br />of fame if it I S desired for that to be continued or other projects <br />that will recognize San Marcos community contributors. <br />Sunset recommendation: Recommend the name be changed to Commission <br />for Community Service. <br />
