4 Regular Meeting April 11, 1994 Page 4 Mayor Morris introduced for consideration a public hearing and adoption of a Resolution, the caption which was read as follows: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING THE FUTURE LAND USE MAP OF THE MASTER PLAN OF THE CITY, FROM COMMERCIAL TO LOW DENSITY RESIDENTIAL FOR A 0.33 ACRE TRACT OF PROPERTY LOCATED AT 404-406 MEINERS STREET AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. ¡ Mayor Morris opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to speak. Albert Sierra, representing the Housing Authority, requested the change and recommended its approval. Gus Mozelle, architect for the Housing Authority on this project, showed the Council what the houses would look like. No one else wished to speak, so Mayor Morris closed the public hearing. Mr. Moore moved for adoption of the Resolutiori and Mr. Cox seconded the motion. The Council asked if the properties on this agenda would be rental properties or owned. Mr. Sierra stated these would be rental properties, but separate funds could be applied for owner-occupied properties. The Council requested Mr. Sierra pursue application for owner-occupied properties. The Council voted unanimously for adoption of the Resolution. .; Mayor Morris introduced for consideration a public hearing and adoption of a Zoning Ordinance, the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY BY REZONING A 1.329 ACRE TRACT OF PROPERTY, LOCATED ON THE NORTHWEST SIDE OF THE 700 BLOCK OF MARTIN LUTHER KING DRIVE, FROM "MF-4" (MULTI-FAMILY DISTRICT [HIGH DENSITY]) TO "R-1" (SINGLE-FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT [LOW DENSITY]) AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Mayor Morris opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to speak. Albert Sierra asked the Council for their support of this rezoning. Ollie Giles asked how many houses would be constructed in this project. Mr. Sierra advised five houses. Ms. Giles called HUD and was advised Mr. Sierra could resubmit an application for the homes to be owner-occupied rather than rental properties and wanted Mr. Sierra to do so. No one else wished to speak, so Mayor Morris closed the public hearing. Mr. Moore moved for adoption of the Zoning Ordinance and Mr. Plummer seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Mayor Morris introduced for consideration a public hearing and adoption of a Zoning Ordinance, the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY BY REZONING A 0.11 ACRE TRACT OF PROPERTY, LOCATED AT 301 ROOSEVELT STREET, FROM "M" (SINGLE-FAMILY, DUPLEX AND NEIGHBORHOOD BUSINESS DISTRICT) AND "R-l" (SINGLE-FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT [LOW DENSITY]) TO "R-2" (SINGLE-FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT [MEDIUM DENSITY]) AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. ¡ ¡ Mayor Morris opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to - speak. Mr. Sierra stated he was in support of this rezoning. No one else wished to speak, so Mayor Morris closed the public hearing. Mr. Guerra moved for adoption of the Zoning Ordinance and Mr. Cox seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
