5 Regular Meeting April 11, 1994 Page 5 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY BY REZONING A 0.34 ACRE TRACT OF PROPERTY LOCATED AT 733 CENTRE STREET, FROM "M" (SINGLE-FAMILY, DUPLEX AND NEIGHBORHOOD BUSINESS DISTRICT) TO "R-1" (SINGLE-FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT [LOW DENSITY]) AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Mayor Morris opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to speak. Albert Sierra stated he is in favor of the rezoning. He stated the construction of the homes would start in early Fall. No one else wished to speak, so Mayor Morris closed the public hearing. Mr. Cox moved for adoption of the zoning Ordinance and Mr. Moore seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Mayor Morris .introduced for consideration a public hearing and adoption of a Zoning ordinance, the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY BY REZONING A 0.33 ACRE TRACT OF PROPERTY, LOCATED AT 404-406 MEINERS STREET, FROM "c" (COMMERCIAL DISTRICT) TO "R-l" (SINGLE-FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT [LOW DENSITY]) AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Mayor Morris opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to speak. Albert Sierra stated he recommended the property be rezoned. No one else wished to speak, so Mayor Morris closed the public hearing. Mr. Guerra moved for adoption of the Zoning Ordinance and Mr. Moore seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Mayor Morris introduced for consideration a public hearing and adoption of a Zoning ordinance, the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY BY REZONING A 0.17 ACRE TRACT OF PROPERTY, LOCATED AT 735 MARTIN LUTHER KING DRIVE, FROM "M" (SINGLE-FAMILY, DUPLEX AND NEIGHBORHOOD BUSINESS DISTRICT) TO "R-2" (SINGLE-FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT [MEDIUM DENSITY]) AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Mayor Morris opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to speak for or against the zoning amending. Albert Sierra requested approval of the zoning change. Ollie Giles asked Mr. Sierra if everyone who needs a home be considered, if it is equal opportunity housing, and Mr. Sierra stated it is, and it will be handled "first come, first served". No one else wished to speak, so Mayor Morris closed the public hearing. Mr. Moore moved for adoption of the Zoning Ordinance and Mr. Cox seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Mayor Morris opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to speak. Albert Sierra stated he wants the Council to approve this rezoning request.
