(1) The Council <br /> discussed transportation being provided to citizens who are seeking <br /> training. Mr. Moore advised through CAPCO, the city was advised not <br /> to pursue, but this matter could be brought up again during a grant <br /> application process. Gary Job Corps is providing training to <br /> non-residents up to 24 years of age, and the city needs to look at <br /> funding from JTPA; Mr. Moore stated he would discuss this matter <br /> with Ms. Hawaener. (2) Mr. Hernandez stated there is still too <br /> much truck traffic in the neighborhoods, and the weight is <br /> destructive. He stated a lesser weight limit than 7,000 pounds <br /> which is allowed now should be posted. He stated the signs had <br /> helped somewhat, but it is a situation that still needs to be looked <br /> at. (3) Mr. Mooney stated he wants the city council to meet with <br /> Neighborhood Associations in their neighborhoods. He feels it is <br /> important to maintain that interaction. (4) Mr. Guerra stated TML <br /> Region VII was scheduled to meet in San Marcos on August 12. The <br /> TML Annual Conference housing arrangements were tentatively made for <br /> the city participants at the host hotel, and there would be <br /> functions on Wednesday and Thursday the City would be invited to. <br /> Mr. Guerra introduced an Executive Session pursuant to section 551 <br /> of the Government Code, section 551.071, to discuss pending <br /> litigation (Sierra Club vs. Babbitt; Sharp vs. cit~ of San Marcos), <br /> contemplated litigation and matters where the city Attorney's <br /> ethical duty to the City clearly conflicts with Government Code <br /> Chapter 551; and sections 551.072 and 551.073, to discuss value of <br /> real property.
