BASIC SERVICES
1. SURVEY
Considerable survey information was obtained during the Preliminary Engineering phase, however
additional survey will be needed for further refinement and in areas not obtained (e.g. drainage outfall
alignment and portions of the upper reaches of the watershed).
FNI will coordinate with and support Byrn & Associates, Inc. to perform this additional survey based
on their attached detailed scope of services. Services will basically be horizontal and vertical control
and additional topographic surveys for two areas: Along the channel near Veramindi St to capture
additionally needed information for the drainage analysis and survey information for the outfall
(Design Package 1). See Byrn and Associates, proposal for more detail.
2. GEOTECHNICAL SERVICES
Perform up to three (3) geotechnical bores along the outfall alignment to identify soil conditions for
the purpose of design and contractor information. Two bores will be performed within the pavement
area and one bore will be performed within Dunbar Park. Bores will be taken at a depth up to 15 -ft
deep. Update the geotechnical findings with a letter report to be included with the geotechnical
report.
3. UPDATE DRAINAGE ANALYSIS
Complete a final hydrologic and hydraulic analysis for design of the proposed drainage system. All
designs will be accordance to AASHTO standards at a minimum, with the ability to carry the 25 -year
ultimate design flows within a proposed storm drainage system and the 100 -year system to carry the
100 -year ultimate design flows within the ROW. The City of San Marcos Standards will be used to
supplement AASHTO standards where required. Design considerations for drainage within the area
along the south portion of the watershed, parallel to Bishop Street from Prospect Street, crossing
Hopkins, W. San Antonio St., W. Martin Luther King St and emptying into Purgatory Creek will be
performed under supplemental services upon approval. The following services will be performed:
A. Update the drainage divides based on new topographical survey.
B. Update the 2D model prepared during the 30% design phase to incorporate Purgatory Creek
water surface elevations from Halff Associates' updated HEC -RAS model.
C. Perform a preliminary conceptual design of the Belvin System, anticipating that all flows will be
captured along Belvin in the future and conveyed through the proposed storm drain system.
D. Update the drainage design along Hopkins Street based on the conceptual Belvin System design.
E. Along Hopkins Street, prepare inlet placements and calculate curb and grate inlet sizes.
F. Design the discharge point and outfall into Purgatory Creek, including rock riprap, channel
design, velocity control structures, and wingwall/headwall design.
G. Review HGL/EGL plots to value -engineer the storm drain system for the project.
A-2
