City Council Meeting Minutes July 5, 2017 <br />people to volunteer their time to help these people. <br />Matt Akins, spoke about the Transportation Master Plan and spoke about the <br />importance of bike and pedestrian transportation. He also spoke about the <br />Dining with Dogs Ordinance, and about the multiple issues that the ordinance is <br />causing. He asked the Council to reconsider various sections of the Ordinance. <br />He spoke about his home on the corner of Hopkins / Scott Street and how the <br />expansion of the Historic District would impact him. <br />Dianne Wassenich, San Marcos River Foundation, spoke on the Transportation <br />Master Plan. She spoke about the thin layer of soil and vegetation that would be <br />damaged by the Craddock extension. She stated that we do not want to <br />encourage development west, especially over the springs. The San Marcos River <br />Foundation has been purchasing land in that area to conserve the Land and <br />protect the sensitive areas on the west side of San Marcos. She asked that the <br />Council please take that extension of Craddock out of the plan. She stated that <br />she feels that you are the kind of Council that understands what she is saying. <br />You already know about recharge zones. <br />Karl Brown, spoke about the expansion of the Historic Districts and feels that they <br />are a good thing. He stated that he is speaking is support of the <br />Lindsey-Rogers/Hopkins Street Historic District expansions. He spoke about the <br />time while he was on Council and their building of the Dunbar Community Center <br />& the Fish Hatchery Building that they moved over and saved. He spoke about <br />the Lamar School and how it is located in the middle of two historic districts. He <br />spoke about the history of the school. <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br />A motion was made by Council Member Gregson, seconded by Mayor Pro -Tem <br />Hughson, that the consent agenda be approved, with the exception of Item #8 <br />which was pulled and considered separately. The motion carried by the following <br />vote: <br />For: 7 - Mayor Thomaides, Mayor Pro -Tem Hughson, Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Prewitt, Council <br />Member Mihalkanin, Council Member Gonzales, Council Member Gregson and <br />Council Member Derrick <br />Against: 0 <br />5, Consider approval, by motion, of the following meeting Minutes: <br />June 16, 2017 - Special Meeting Minutes <br />June 16, 2017 - Packet Meeting Minutes <br />June 20, 2017 - Regular Meeting Minutes <br />A motion was made by Mayor Pro -Tem Hughson, seconded by Council <br />City of San Marcos Page 4 <br />
