1998 Review Committee Report <br />LIBRARY BOARD <br />Reviewed by: Kay Stott and Doris Colgin <br />Pale 6 <br />The Library Board consists of seven members. This board acts in an advisory capacity to the <br />City Council for the continued development and improvement of the San Marcos Public Library. <br />Observation <br />The Library Board appears to be a devoted board that works with enthusiasm and takes pride in <br />their work. All members presented ideas and weighed issues carefully before making a decision. <br />One reviewer notes that Director Stephanie Langenkamp is on top of everythinj. <br />Recommendation <br />No change <br />MAIN STREET ADVISORY BOARD <br />Reviewed by Kay Stott and Doris Colgin <br />The Main Street Advisory Board is composed of fifteen members. This board provides advice <br />and recommendations to the City Council regarding the goals and priorities of the -Main Street <br />Project. <br />Observations <br />The Main Street Advisory Board meetings are well attended by current and former board <br />members and many visitors. The board covers long agendas quickly and efficiently with a lot of <br />enthusiasm. One reviewer notes that all boards and commissions should have the energy and <br />excitement of this board. <br />Recommendation <br />The Main Street Board has requested two changes regarding terms: <br />(a) a change to increase terms of office from two years to three years, and <br />(b) a change to Code Section 2.068 to reduce the period of ineligibility for former <br />members from one term to one year.
