City Council Meeting Minutes February 5, 2019 <br />authorizing the City Manager to execute said agreement on behalf of the City; and <br />declaring an effective date. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Prewitt asked about the current funding. Staff stated this is for <br />striping after overlay. <br />A motion was made by Council Member Mihalkanin, seconded by Mayor Pro <br />Tem Prewitt, to approve Resolution 2019-25R. The motion carried by the <br />following vote: <br />For: 7 - Mayor Pro Tem Prewitt, Council Member Gonzales, Council Member Derrick, Mayor <br />Hughson, Council Member Mihalkanin, Council Member Marquez and Council <br />Member Rockeymoore <br />Against: 0 <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />5. Receive a Staff presentation and hold a Public Hearing to receive comments for or <br />against Ordinance 2019-07 (SNC -18-01 (Hunter Road to West Hopkins)), changing the <br />street name of Hunter Road between Wonder World Drive and West San Antonio street <br />to West Hopkins Street in order to eliminate multiple street names along the continuity of <br />a single street; and including procedural provisions; and consider approval of Ordinance <br />2019-07, on the first of two readings. <br />Shannon Mattingly, provided a brief presentation. She provided an update on <br />the steps taken so far on this item. Staff reviewed the possibility of the name <br />change while reviewing the speed limit on this road. Transportation staff <br />supports the name change at this intersection to reduce confusion. <br />Approximately 330 residents and property owners have been identified that will <br />be impacted by address changes if the street name is changed. Transportation <br />staff held a public meeting on November 15, 2018. Staff received a petition <br />from 85 residents on Hunter Road requesting that the Street Name Change be <br />denied. At there regularly scheduled January 8th meeting, the Planning and <br />Zoning Commission recommended denial of the proposed Street Name Change <br />by a vote of 8-0. A majority vote of Council would be required for approval. <br />Mayor Hughson opened the Public Hearing at 6:38 p.m. <br />Those who spoke: <br />Roland Saucedo, reviewed previous minutes and video and did not see that <br />Council asked Staff to place this on an agenda. He believes this will be a big <br />inconvenience to citizens that would be impacted by this name change. There <br />are no issues with 9/11, GPS, or delivery services.
