<br />223. <br /> <br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />September 10, 2001 <br /> <br />Page 10 <br /> <br />OLD BASTROP ROAD AND STATE HIGHWAY 123; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration Item 23 removed from the consent <br />agenda, adoption of an Ordinance on third and final reading, the caption <br />which was read as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />AMENDING CHAPTER 2 OF THE CITY CODE TO CONVERT THE CEMETERY <br />COMMISSION, THE DRAINAGE ADVISORY BOARD AND THE SENIOR CITIZEN <br />ADVISORY BOARD TO STAFF ADVISORY BOARDS; MAKING OTHER CONFORMING <br />AMENDMENTS TO THE CITY CODE; AND INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS. <br /> <br />Ms. Hughson moved for adoption of the Ordinance on third and final reading <br />and Ms. Tatum seconded the motion. Ms. Hughson referenced Section <br />2.131(b) and asked if the executive director of Community Action would <br />serve as an ex-officio member of this Board. Mr. Gilley stated he spoke <br />with Ms. Jaimes, and she wants to serve in that capacity, or have her <br />designee serve in that capacity. Ms. Hughson moved to amend Section <br />2.131(b) to read, "The executive director, or designee, of the Community <br />Action. .", and Mr. Mihalkanin seconded the motion, which passed <br />unanimously. The Council then voted unanimously for adoption of the <br />Ordinance on third and final reading. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration Item 28 removed from the consent <br />agenda, adoption of a Resolution, the caption which was read as follows: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />APPROVING THE TRANSFER OF HAYS COUNTY CITIES FROM REGION 7 TO REGION <br />10 OF THE TEXAS MUNICIPAL LEAGUE; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Ms. Hughson moved for adoption of the Resolution and Ms. Tatum seconded <br />the motion. Mr. Taylor advised the Council only two cities have responded <br />by sending Resolutions to us, and he will be checking with the other <br />cities on this matter. Ms. Hughson stated it is important for Hays County <br />cities to move to the Central Texas Region, and she would be willing to go <br />to these other Council Meetings if that is what it will take. Ms. Hughson <br />asked when other TML Resolutions would corne to the Council, and Mr. Taylor <br />stated at the October 8 meeting. The Council voted unanimously for <br />adoption of the Resolution. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval to set City Council <br />Regular and Special Meeting dates: Second Regular Meeting date in <br />September - Monday, September 17, 2001 at 5:30 p.m. in the Council <br />Chambers; Special Meeting - Monday, September 17, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. at San <br />Marcos Activity Center (1st public hearing on Southwest San Marcos <br />Annexation); first Regular Meeting date in November - Monday, November 19, <br />2001; and set two Regular Meeting dates for December, 2001. Ms. Hughson <br />moved for approval of the above dates and for the two December meeting <br />dates to be rescheduled for consideration because two Council Members were <br />
