216. Regular Meeting September 10, 2001 Page 3 Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval of four appointments to the Convention and Visitors Bureau Board. Ms. Hughson moved to reappoint Paul Mayhew (Council Member), reappoint Marty Sorrell (Neighborhood Association) and reappoint Curtis Parkerson (Heritage Association), which passed unanimously. The remaining appointment from the Hospitality Association will be rescheduled. Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration a public hearing and approval of an Ordinance on first reading, the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING THE ABANDONMENT OF A PORTION OF BISHOP STREET NEAR ITS NEW INTERSECTION WITH CRADDOCK AVENUE; APPROVING THE CONVEYANCE OF THIS PORTION OF BISHOP STREET TO THE MILTON DANIEL BUIE PROPERTIES PARTNERSHIP; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A DEED; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Mayor Chiu opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to speak. No one did, so Mayor Chiu closed the public hearing. Ms. Hughson moved for approval of the Ordinance on first reading and Ms. Tatum seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration a public hearing and approval of an Ordinance on first reading, the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, REVISING AND UPDATING ARTICLE 6, EDWARDS AQUIFER PROTECTION REGULATIONS OF CHAPTER 94, DEVELOPMENT STANDARDS, OF THE CITY CODE; INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Mayor Chiu opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to speak. No one did, so Mayor Chiu closed the public hearing. Ms. Hughson moved for approval of the Ordinance on first reading and Ms. Tatum seconded the motion. Mr. Taylor referenced a letter dated September 10 from Clarion Associates, who conducted an analysis of the Ordinance. The changes that were made to the Ordinance do not change their conclusions contained in their report. Ms. Hughson stated she liked the changes made by the Planning and Zoning Commission. The Council then voted unanimously for approval of the Ordinance on first reading. AND LAURA HETHCOCK, MYRA MCALLISTER, AND RICHARD AND LESLIE SALAS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE QUITCLAIM DEEDS; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
