City Council Meeting Minutes June 4, 2019 <br />Against: 0 <br />16. Hold discussion and consider the appointment of one to two City Council Members to a <br />Budget and Policy Committee regarding the Animal Shelter Implementation Plan, and <br />provide direction to the City Manager. <br />Council Member Derrick and Council Member Marquez were nominated to <br />serve on the Budget and Policy Committee regarding the Animal Shelter <br />Implementation Plan. The motion carried by the following: <br />For: 7 - Mayor Pro Tem Prewitt, Council Member Gonzales, Council Member Derrick, Mayor <br />Hughson, Council Member Mihalkanin, Council Member Marquez and Council <br />Member Rockeymoore <br />Against: 0 <br />17. Consider an appointment to fill a vacancy on the following Boards or Commissions, and <br />provide direction to staff: <br />A) Cemetery Commission <br />B) San Marcos Commission on Children and Youth <br />Mayor Hughson nominated Allison Tudor to serve on the Cemetery <br />Commission and Jerilyn Miller to the San Marcos Commission on Children <br />and Youth. The motion carried by the following vote: <br />For: 7 - Mayor Pro Tem Prewitt, Council Member Gonzales, Council Member Derrick, Mayor <br />Hughson, Council Member Mihalkanin, Council Member Marquez and Council <br />Member Rockeymoore <br />Against: 0 <br />18. Hold discussion regarding recommendation Resolution 2019-01 RR of the Neighborhood <br />Commission to the City Council to advise the City Manager to look into the sidewalk plan <br />and ensure clear communication amongst all City Departments and all affected citizens <br />involved in this project; in particular we ask that council be sensitive to sidewalks affecting <br />our irreplaceable historic areas; and provide direction to the City Manager. <br />Bert Lumbreras, provided a brief update on the 5 Year sidewalk funding <br />program that was adopted in 2013. A part of this includes a maintenance <br />program that discusses how we will make repairs with funding we have <br />currently. We will be mindful of notification and outreach will be increased <br />along with numerous additional steps that are important. Staff is on hand for <br />specific questions. <br />Sabas Avila, Assistant Director of Public Services, discussed the sidewalk <br />program and indicated these projects are sent to various departments to <br />inquire about any conflicts that may incur with a particular project.
