51.
Regular Meeting October 9, 2000 Page 3
Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval of two appointments of
alternates to the Planning and Zoning Commission. Ms. Hughson stated one
of the alternate appointments should reside in the ETJ since we are
required to have at least one ETJ member on the Commission and only have
one now. Mr. Doiron moved to appoint William DeSoto (City), Mayor Chiu
moved to appoint Cheryl Warren-Norton (ETJ) , and Mr. Mayhew moved to
appoint Jodie Polk (ETJ) and John Thomaides (City). On roll call the
following vote was recorded:
Doiron: DeSoto, Polk.
Moseley: Warren-Norton, DeSoto.
Hughson: Polk, Thomaides.
Chiu: Warren-Norton, DeSoto.
Cox: Warren-Norton, Thomaides.
Mayhew: Polk, Thomaides.
Tatum: Warren-Norton, DeSoto.
William DeSoto (City) and Cheryl Warren-Norton (ETJ) will serve as the
alternates to the Planning and Zoning Commission.
Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration a public hearing and adoption of a
Zoning Ordinance, the caption which was read as follows:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS,
AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY BY REZONING LOTS 7 AND
8, BLOCK 2, C. L. MCGEHEE ADDITION, LOCATED AT THE INTERSECTION OF
BLANCO AND BURLESON STREETS, FROM" P" (PUBLIC AND INSTITUTIONAL
DISTRICT) TO "TH -I" (TOWNHOUSE RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT [LOW DENSITY]);
INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES.
Mayor Chiu opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to speak.
Tom Flanders stated he was representing the owner for this project. They
want to build townhouses that are not intended to be used as rental
property. Their project includes off-street parking for two vehicles per
townhouse. Townhouse zoning allows no more than two unrelated persons per
home. No one else wished to speak, so Mayor Chiu closed the public
hearing. Mr. Moseley moved for adoption of the Zoning Ordinance and Mr.
Doiron seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
Mayor Chiu introduced a public hearing and adoption of a Resolution, the
caption which was read as follows:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS,
AMENDING THE FUTURE LAND USE PLAN OF THE CITY MASTER PLAN, FROM MIXED
USE TO MEDIUM DENSITY RESIDENTIAL FOR AN 8.13 ACRE, MORE OR LESS,
TRACT OF PROPERTY, AND FROM MIXED USE TO COMMERCIAL FOR A 9.9 ACRE,
MORE OR LESS, TRACT OF PROPERTY, BOTH TRACTS BEING LOCATED NEAR THE
INTERSECTION OF RANCH ROAD 12 AND BISHOP STREET; AND DECLARING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
