The accurate identification of hard -to -count and underrepresented <br />populations in the City of San Marcos <br />2. The effective promotion of the Census and increase in self -response among <br />residents through: <br />a). The creation of a climate where stakeholders and residents are aware of the <br />Census and the benefits of an accurate count. <br />b). Increasing awareness and understanding of the Census through a variety of <br />channels <br />c). Partnering with the San Marcos library <br />d). Promoting the four ways to participate in the census. These four options <br />are online, over the phone, via the mail -in form, or through an in-person <br />interview with a Census enumerator. <br />San Marcos Complete Count Committee Strategy: <br />Institutional Strategy <br />• Engage trusted healthcare, education, local government, and economic <br />development institutions and <br />organizations to educate and motivate through: <br />- Social media, waiting area television displays, text outs and direct mailings, <br />distribution of print materials, organizational intranet applications, public <br />facing websites, marquees, elected official proclamations, messaging in utility <br />bills, announcements at sporting events, and tabling at various community <br />events throughout the year. <br />Grassroots Strategy - Meet residents where they are. <br />• Tabling at events held along the San Marcos River <br />• Partner with the Housing Authority to educate and engage <br />• Asking faith based leaders to include a message in their sermon <br />• Distributing print materials and "Remember to Count Me" stickers to <br />City of San Marcos Page 12 <br />
