City Council Meeting Minutes January 7, 2020 <br />daycares and childcare centers <br />• Coordinating with apartment property managers to implement <br />incentive -based events such as pizza socials and raffles <br />• Partner with nonprofits and community based organizations to solicit input <br />on additional appropriate strategies and ask for assistance in outreach and <br />engagement <br />Media Strategy - Promotion through radio, TV, print, and social media <br />• Flyers posted at apartment complexes throughout town, particularly those <br />with a large number of residents that are TX State University students <br />• Local San Marcos podcasts <br />• Events Center Marquees <br />• Social Media Accounts (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook) <br />• CARTS and Texas State University Bus Ads <br />• Billboards <br />• Promotion and stories in the San Marcos Daily Record, University Star, <br />Community Impact, & Hays Free Press <br />• Parish bulletins <br />• Local radio stations (KTSW) <br />• Promotion through radio, TV, print, and social media <br />• Request EVO and Stars & Stripes (drive -in theatre) play a PSA or <br />promotional video before movie <br />• Posters in high traffic locations <br />• Public access channel <br />In addition to the three -pronged approach, the Complete Count Committee <br />will explore opportunities to host several events aimed at promoting the <br />Census and self response: <br />- A kick-off event where local press is invited <br />- An event focused on engaging institutional partners <br />- A fun, entertaining, and culturally appropriate event focused on reaching <br />hard -to -count populations <br />- A Census Sunday event held on the Sunday before Census Day aimed at <br />engaging the faith based <br />community <br />- An event on Census Day (April 1st 2020) aimed at providing resources and <br />assistance <br />Following the presentation, Bert Lumbreras commented that the City has <br />submitted a funding request with Hays County for $10,000 and will follow up <br />with the County. Mr. Lumbreras also mentioned that we will focus to identify <br />City of San Marcos page 13 <br />
