He stated young people are now able to safely use the park and can safely walk to DeZavala School. He would like more information before this is decided upon. (16) John Wade stated he agrees with comments made by Dr. Rogers and wants the ETJ position to remain a part of the P&Z Commission and that term limits should be eliminated for boards and commissions as the City loses expertise and experience. Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval of two appointments to the San Marcos Electrical Board. Ms. Tatum moved to reappoint Delanie Broadwater (General Contractor) and reappoint Russell Grumbles (Electrician), which passed unanimously. Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval of eight appointments to the Youth Commission. Mr. Montoya moved to appoint Lino Carillo (San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District teacher) to represent the School District, and Ms. Tatum moved to reappoint Erica Bowen (student), reappoint priscilla Gomez (student), reappoint Dale Austin (student), reappoint Craig Corbin (San Marcos Youth Council and Service), reappoint Wayne Thompson (San Marcos Area Clergy), reappoint Frank Calabrese (San Marcos School Resource Officer) and reappoint Vevelyn Yates (Southwest Texas State University), which passed unanimously. Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval of one appointment to the Human Development Commission. No nominations were received and this will be rescheduled. Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval of two appointments to the Land Development Steering/Policy Committee (Temporary). Mr. Montoya moved to appoint Michael Mercado, which passed unanimously. The remaining appointment will be rescheduled. Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration a public hearing and adoption of a Zoning Ordinance, the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY BY REZONING A 0.6 ACRE TRACT OF PROPERTY LOCATED IN THE 1300 BLOCK OF WONDER WORLD DRIVE, FROM "LB" (LIMITED BUSINESS DISTRICT) TO "MF-5" (MULTI-FAMILY DISTRICT [HIGH DENSITY]); INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES. Mayor Chiu opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to speak. No one did, so Mayor Chiu closed the public hearing. Ms. Hughson moved for adoption of the Zoning Ordinance and Mr. Mayhew seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
