<br />77. <br /> <br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />February 11, 2002 <br /> <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />Highway 123 and is adjacent to Crystal River. The increased traffic would <br />cause more accidents and wants some assurance for the neighborhood's <br />safety, that their property not be damaged, that there not be noise <br />pollution from the traffic, and increased criminal activity. He stated <br />young people are now able to safely use the park and can safely walk to <br />DeZavala School. He would like more information before this is decided <br />upon. (16) John Wade stated he agrees with comments made by Dr. Rogers <br />and wants the ETJ position to remain a part of the P&Z Commission and that <br />term limits should be eliminated for boards and commissions as the City <br />loses expertise and experience. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval of two appointments to <br />the San Marcos Electrical Board. Ms. Tatum moved to reappoint Delanie <br />Broadwater (General Contractor) and reappoint Russell Grumbles <br />(Electrician), which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval of eight appointments to <br />the Youth Commission. Mr. Montoya moved to appoint Lino Carillo (San <br />Marcos Consolidated Independent School District teacher) to represent the <br />School District, and Ms. Tatum moved to reappoint Erica Bowen (student), <br />reappoint priscilla Gomez (student), reappoint Dale Austin (student), <br />reappoint Craig Corbin (San Marcos Youth Council and Service), reappoint <br />Wayne Thompson (San Marcos Area Clergy), reappoint Frank Calabrese (San <br />Marcos School Resource Officer) and reappoint Vevelyn Yates (Southwest <br />Texas State University), which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval of one appointment to the <br />Human Development Commission. No nominations were received and this will <br />be rescheduled. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval of two appointments to <br />the Land Development Steering/Policy Committee (Temporary). Mr. Montoya <br />moved to appoint Michael Mercado, which passed unanimously. The remaining <br />appointment will be rescheduled. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration a public hearing and adoption of a <br />Zoning Ordinance, the caption which was read as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY BY REZONING A 0.6 ACRE <br />TRACT OF PROPERTY LOCATED IN THE 1300 BLOCK OF WONDER WORLD DRIVE, <br />FROM "LB" (LIMITED BUSINESS DISTRICT) TO "MF-5" (MULTI-FAMILY <br />DISTRICT [HIGH DENSITY]); INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND <br />PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to speak. <br />No one did, so Mayor Chiu closed the public hearing. Ms. Hughson moved <br />for adoption of the Zoning Ordinance and Mr. Mayhew seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously. <br />
