Regular Heeting January 14, 2002 Page 3 <br /> <br />Police Department and neighborhoods and stated they are excellent steps to <br />take now. (11) John Green stated he is a student and resides in an <br />apartment on North Craddock. He stated the City needs to pursue more <br />public land, and parks are needed in his area of town for beauty and <br />protection of the Aquifer. He stated public land needs to encircle the <br />City, as in Portland, Oregon and Boulder, Colorado. He stated it is the <br />duty of the City to protect the health, safety and welfare of the <br />citizens. He stated he is pleased with the accomplishments of the Mayor <br />but is against the City pursuing a large employer. He stated let a large <br />employer beg to come to San Marcos. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval of five appointments to <br />the Airport Commission. Mr. Mihalkanin moved to reappoint Dan Gibson <br />(City), reappoint Mike Dishman (City) and reappoint Curtis Briggs (City), <br />Mr. Montoya moved to appoint William Benson (Out of City), and Ms. Hughson <br />moved to appoint Fraye Stokes (City) and Mike Davis (Out of City). On <br />roll call the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />Mihalkanin: Benson Gibson, Dishman, Briggs, Stokes. <br />Montoya: Benson Gibson, Dishman, Briggs, Stokes. <br />Hugshon: Gibson Dishman, Briggs, Stokes, Davis. <br />Chiu: Gibson Dishman, Briggs, Stokes, Davis. <br />Cox: Gibson Dishman, Briggs, Stokes, Davis. <br />Mayhew: Gibson Dishman, Briggs, Stokes, Davis. <br />Tatum: Gibson Dishman, Briggs, Stokes, Davis. <br /> <br />Messrs. Gibson, Dishman and Briggs were reappointed and Ms. Stokes and Mr. <br />Davis were appointed. <br /> <br />Hayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval ef three appointments te <br />the Historic Preservation Commission. Ms. Hughsen moved to appoint Jacque <br />Allbright as the San Antonio Street Historical District representative, <br />Hr. Cox moved te appoint Richard Gachot as the Belvin Street Historical <br />District representative, and Ms. Tatum moved te reappoint Diana Carbajal <br />as the Downtown Historical District representative, which passed <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayer Chiu introduced for consideration approval of five appointments te <br />the Parks and Recreation Advisory Beard. Mr. Mihalkanin moved to <br />reappoint Frances Emery, reappoint Patrick Kirwin, reappoint Sherwood <br />Bishop, reappoint Jane Reach and reappoint Kyle Hahn, which passed <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayer Chiu introduced for consideration approval ef three appointments te <br />the Human Development Commission. Ms. Hughson moved te reappoint Carol <br />Ceughlin, reappoint Doris Celgin and reappoint Sue Williams, which passed <br />unanimously. <br /> <br /> <br />
