Regular Meeting January 28, 2002 Page 4 Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration a public hearing and approval of an Ordinance on first reading, the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING CHAPTER 114, ZONING, OF THE CITY CODE BY ADDING NEW DIVISIONS TO ARTICLE 5 FOR "DPR-l" AND "DPR-2" (TWO-FAMILY RESTRICTED DWELLING DISTRICTS); INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES. Mayor Chiu opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to speak. No one did, so Mayor Chiu closed the public hearing. Mr. Mayhew moved for approval of the Ordinance on first reading and Mr. Cox seconded the motion. Ms. Hughson noted these are new zoning districts and not replacement of the old ones, which are still in need of change. No one will be required to use the new zoning categories. She suggested increasing the parking requirements for the existing zoning categories. Mr. Patterson advised the existing districts are being changed and will be presented to the Council for consideration soon. The Council voted unanimously for approval of the Ordinance on first reading. Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration a public hearing and adoption of a Zoning Ordinance, the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY BY REZONING A 0.157 ACRE TRACT OF PROPERTY LOCATED AT THE CORNER OF CENTRE STREET AND SHADY LANE, FROM "M" (SINGLE-FAMILY, DUPLEX AND NEIGHBORHOOD BUSINESS DISTRICT) TO "R-2" (SINGLE-FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT [MEDIUM DENSITY] ); INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES.
