City Council Meeting Minutes February 24, 2021 <br />PRESENTATIONS <br />1. Receive status reports and updates on response to COVID-19 pandemic; and provide <br />direction to Staff. <br />Chase Stapp, Director of Public Safety provided the presentation on the <br />COVID-19 update. <br />County Vaccination Update <br />• February 22 and 23 - Kyle PAC 1st dose clinic (a.m.) and 2nd dose clinic <br />(P.m.) <br />• February 25 - San Marcos High School 2nd dose clinic (all day) <br />• March 2 and 3 - Wimberley 2nd dose and mobile vaccination clinics in San <br />Marcos (Wellington and Stonebrook) <br />• Vaccination pre -registration available at www.haysinformed.com <br />• Vaccinations are currently still limited to tier la and lb recipients <br />Known Cases - as of February 23, 2021 <br />• Approx. 2.25 million total cases (202k active) cases in Texas with 36,491 <br />fatalities <br />*source: Texas Department of State Health Services <br />• 16,036 total cases in Hays County (714 active and 15,114 recovered) with 208 <br />fatalities <br />• 724 cases have required hospitalization, 28 current <br />• 5,727 total cases in San Marcos (199 active and 5,446 recovered) with 75 <br />fatalities <br />*source: Hays County Health Department <br />• 2,138 total cases at TX State (24 active) <br />• 1,918 students, 220 faculty/staff <br />*source: Texas State University Student Health Services <br />Mr. Stapp stated there are four city employees with active cases. <br />Comparative Information <br />• Texas - About 158k fewer active cases since the last update and 4,916 new <br />fatalities <br />• Hays - 1,574 fewer active cases since the last update and 22 new fatalities <br />• San Marcos - 449 fewer active cases since last update and 8 new fatalities <br />• Employee test results - 8 fewer employees currently positive than the last <br />update. <br />The Active Case trend is downward as is the number of hospitalizations.
