City Council <br />Meeting Minutes February 2, 2021 <br />Comparative Information since the last update on January 19, 2021: <br />• Texas — About 21k fewer active cases since the 1/19 update and4,407 new <br />fatalities <br />• Hays —149 fewer active cases since the last update and 32 new fatalities <br />• San Marcos —154 fewer active cases since last update and 11 new fatalities <br />Hospitalizations in Trama Center O are declining. Since this has been under <br />15% for the required period of time, the related Governor's Order has allowed <br />a higher occupancy in some businesses. Active cases in January are declining <br />slightly. <br />Unfortunately, more of our residents have died due to COVID-19 in January <br />than any other month. <br />Testing Overview <br />• 118,750 tests administered county wide <br />—104,058 negative (87.6%) <br />—14,692 confirmed (12.4%) <br />• Testing by Curative <br />— San Marcos Outlet Malls (Premium side) <br />— Toyota Stadium (Rattler Stadium) <br />— Various additional locations throughout the region (Hays ISD Performing <br />Arts Center) <br />• Abbott Labs BinaxNow Rapid Testing <br />— City Employees (Fire and Police) (a nasal test and test result comes back in <br />15 minutes) <br />— San Marcos CISD (employees and students) <br />— Chamber of Commerce (can be used by businesses to test employees) <br />Updates to Governor Abbott's Actions <br />• January 22: Governor, TDEM Expand COVID-19 Rapid Testing Program <br />For Front Line Workers Of Small Businesses <br />— Dedicating 1 million BinaxNow Rapid Tests to expand the program launched <br />in December <br />— TDEM provides local Chambers of Commerce with COVID-19 testing <br />supplies that are then allocated to local small businesses that choose to <br />participate in the program <br />— San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce is participating — link for <br />businesses: https://sanmarcostexas.com/covid-l9-rapid-test-kits-for-businesses/ <br />Mr. Stapp stated that a business does not have to be a member of the Chamber <br />to receive tests. <br />• January 25: Governor, TDEM Announce Expansion Of COVID-19 <br />City of San Marcos Page 4 <br />
