City Council <br />Meeting Minutes February 2, 2021 <br />Mr. Stapp stated in the Governors order it states the capacity doesn't apply to <br />religious services. Council Member Gonzales asked about funeral homes filling <br />up to capacity. Mr. Stapp stated this has not occurred in our community but <br />the State can provide portable morgue trailers to assist if necessary. Mayor <br />Hughson stated the funeral homes are announcing specific requirements and <br />some are extending the time of visitations. <br />Council Member Garza stated she does not want endangerment between law <br />enforcement and the community. She would like to know what education <br />campaigns have been done. Small businesses want to have an understanding <br />that allows them to ask people to leave, if not wearing masks and do more <br />marketing with firm messages that state masks save lives. <br />Council Member Baker inquired of any reported deaths occurring after being <br />at the Infusion Centers and what access do city residents have to those facilities <br />in Austin? Mr. Stapp stated he has not seen a report with those number and <br />the services are being provided to the residents as well. Council Member Baker <br />asked how many San Marcos residents have qualified for those services. Mr. <br />Stapp stated he will provide the information to council. Mr. Stapp stated he <br />receives a daily report from Hays County that is provided to the public by a <br />press release. <br />Kristy Stark, Director of Communications, provided a brief presentation on <br />social media mask safety outreach and stated they have increased the <br />education and outreach information. They are sharing the programs and <br />resources with the community. Ms. Stark stated the messages given out to staff <br />have been through emails from management, videos and sending information <br />to the directors level to share with staff. The City has over 900 employees and <br />there are currently two positive cases. Ms. Stark stated the front line employees <br />have been working in the community from day one and dealing with the <br />pandemic for a year. Ms. Stark stated there has been educational outreach, <br />and the City's Covid webpage is full of resource information and is updated <br />daily. Ms. Stark presented some of the social media content the <br />Communication Department has done and stated there has been over 100 <br />postings on social media since November on the importance of wearing a <br />mask. Ms. Stark stated curbside services are offered for people by local <br />businesses. The Communications department also sent out messages to remind <br />people to wear masks and during the holidays they encouraged small <br />gatherings only. Ms. Stark stated they have partnered with the County and <br />Chamber to share information. Ms. Stark stated the SMTX heart logo began <br />with the flood and is continuing to be used to promote wearing a mask. Ms. <br />City of San Marcos page 7 <br />
