City Council Meeting Minutes July 6, 2021 <br />Council Member Gleason would like to allocate the full amount of $271,915 to <br />Central Texas Addressing Cancer Together. <br />Council Member Derrick would like to allocate $100K for Together for a <br />Cause. She inquired if the City can assist with reporting. Mr. Lumbreras stated <br />the city can assist and that Mr. Saucedo will have an easy application process. <br />Ms. Derrick inquired about the use of money to increase Southside <br />Community Center and have the city do the RFP for construction to expand or <br />for a new building next door. Council consensus is to move forward. Mr. <br />Lumbreras stated he does not have a dollar amount and not sure if <br />assessments have been done. <br />Council Member Gleason would like to allocate $25K for local radio station <br />KDSM that assists during emergencies. <br />Council Member Baker would like to allocate $25K to Nosotros la Gente <br />organization that buys shoes for children in need. <br />Council consensus is to move forward with the following allocations: <br />Reduce Briarwood Project to make it balance (reduce from $2.5M to $1.5M) - <br />$1,071,915 <br />Together for a Cause - $100K <br />Inclusive, equitable outreach (includes vaccine outreach and linguistic equity) - <br />$250,000 <br />Fund Central Texas Addressing Cancer Together- $171,915 <br />Shelter for those experiencing homelessness - expansion - $400K <br />KZSM Radio Station - $25K <br />Support for minority-owned businesses - $100K <br />Nosotros la Gente (buys shoes for children in need) - $25K <br />The motion carried by the following vote: <br />For: 0 <br />Against: 0 <br />MOTION TO POSTPONE: A motion was made by Mayor Hughson, seconded <br />by Mayor Pro Tem Derrick, to postpone Resolution 2021-13OR until next <br />Council meeting.
