City Council Meeting Minutes July 6, 2021 <br />door entrances to enhance visibility and assist first responders that reflects <br />Police recommendations. <br />Use of Self Storage and Outdoor Storage per Council direction to revise the <br />regulations regarding the use of Self Storage <br />-Outdoor Storage Use clarifies definition and adds additional standards <br />regarding height, location, and screening. <br />-Self Storage Use Creates clear definitions, new standards based on research <br />from surrounding cities, and a Conditional Use Permit process. <br />-Commercial (CM) Zoning revises the name of the Employment Center (EC) <br />zoning district for clarity and updates allowable uses. <br />-Allowable uses in CD -2.5 and ND -3.2 to add the newly created zoning <br />districts, CD -2.5 and ND -3.2, to the Land Use Matrix. <br />-Typographical Errors <br />Staff recommendations include the following: <br />-Amend #5 to revise Section 7.1.4.1.C.l.b. Semi -Flush, to increase the <br />allowable percentage that garage doors can extend on the width of the house <br />from 40% to 55% which was recommended by the Planning and Zoning <br />Commission. <br />-Staff and City Council have looked into bringing Planned Development <br />Districts back into the Development Code which will require formal <br />authorization by City Council as it was not originally authorized during the <br />May 4th City Council meeting. <br />Mayor Hughson opened the Public Hearing at 7:05 p.m. <br />There being no speakers, Mayor Hughson closed the Public Hearing at 7:05 <br />p.m. <br />MAIN MOTION: A motion was made by Council Member Gleason, seconded <br />by Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Scott, to approve Ordinance 2021-47, on the first <br />of two readings. <br />MOTION TO AMEND: A motion was made by Mayor Hughson, seconded by <br />Mayor Pro Tem Derrick, to insert a phrase at the end of section 5.1.3.2. (b)(1), <br />inserting "use of 'self storage' is defined in section 5.1.7.7". <br />The motion carried by the following vote: <br />City of San Marcos Page 9 <br />
