City Council Meeting Minutes August 3, 2021 <br />A motion was made by Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Scott, seconded by Council <br />Member Gleason, to approve the pay increase. The motion to approve carried <br />by the following vote: <br />For: 7 - Mayor Pro Tem Derrick, Mayor Hughson, Council Member Baker, Council Member <br />Gonzales, Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Scott, Council Member Garza and Council <br />Member Gleason <br />Against: 0 <br />23. Consider approval of a pay increase in the amount of $ 2,705.25 to City Manager Bert <br />Lumbreras effective May 1, 2021. <br />A motion was made by Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Scott, seconded by Mayor Pro <br />Tem Derrick, to approve the pay increase. The motion to approve carried by <br />the following vote: <br />For: 6 - Mayor Pro Tem Derrick, Mayor Hughson, Council Member Gonzales, Deputy Mayor <br />Pro Tem Scott, Council Member Garza and Council Member Gleason <br />Against: 1 - Council Member Baker <br />NON -CONSENT AGENDA <br />28. Consider approval of Ordinance 2021-55, on the first of two readings, amending Section <br />30.029 of the San Marcos City Code to authorize the assessment of a Service Fee to the <br />holder of an alarm permit for each city response to a false alarm in excess of four false alarms, <br />instead of six, within any 12 -month period; and providing an effective date. <br />MAIN MOTION: A motion was made by Mayor Pro Tem Derrick, seconded <br />by Mayor Hughson, to approve Ordinance 2021-55, on the first of two <br />readings. <br />Police Chief Standridge stated the language of the ordinance is incorrect. He <br />would like council to approve ordinance amendment to state "in excess of <br />three false alarms" instead of "in the excess six false alarms" in the caption of <br />the ordinance and under Sec. 30.029 (a). <br />MOTION TO AMEND: A motion was made by Mayor Hughson, seconded by <br />Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Scott to change "in excess of four false alarms to "in <br />excess of three false alarms" in the caption of the ordinance and under Sec. <br />30.029 (a) to read as follows: The city will assess a service fee to the permit <br />holder in accordance with a schedule adopted by the city council for each <br />response by the city to the permit holder's premises for a false alarm in excess <br />of three false alarms within any 12 -month period. <br />The motion carried by the following vote: <br />City of San Marcos Page 15 <br />
