City Council Meeting Minutes August 17, 2021 <br />A motion was made by Mayor Pro Tem Derrick, seconded by Council Member <br />Garza, to postpone the Historic Preservation Commission appointments to the <br />first meeting in October to gather more information on applicants. The motion <br />failed by the following vote: <br />For: 3 - Mayor Pro Tem Derrick, Council Member Baker and Council Member Garza <br />Against: 4- Mayor Hughson, Council Member Gonzales, Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Scott and <br />Council Member Gleason <br />The following applicants were nominated for consideration to serve on the <br />Ethics Review Commission: <br />Jaylin Orosco - nominated by Council Member Baker <br />Carol Garcia - nominated by Mayor Hughson <br />Following a roll call vote Jaylin Orosco received a majority of votes and was <br />appointed to serve on the Ethics Review Commission. <br />The following applicants were nominated for consideration to serve on the <br />Historic Preservation Commission: <br />Glynis Christine - nominated by Council Member Baker <br />Jan Little - nominated by Mayor Hughson <br />Following a roll call vote Jan Little received a majority of votes and was <br />appointed to serve on the Historic Preservation Commission. <br />Bobbie Garza -Hernandez was nominated by Mayor Hughson for consideration <br />to serve on the Neighborhood Commission: <br />Following a roll call vote she was unanimously appointed to serve on the <br />Neighborhood Commission. <br />The following applicants were nominated for consideration to serve on the <br />Planning and Zoning Commission: <br />Peter Vogt - nominated by Council Member Garza <br />Amy Meeks - nominated by Council Member Gleason <br />Following a roll call vote Amy Meeks received a majority of votes and was <br />appointed to serve on the Planning and Zoning Commission. <br />Mariah Contreras was nominated by Council Member Baker for consideration <br />to serve on the San Marcos Industrial Development Corporation: <br />Following a roll call vote she was unanimously appointed to serve on the San <br />Marcos Industrial Development Corporation. <br />28. Hold discussion regarding options related to amending Section 58.068 of the San <br />Marcos City Code that prohibits possession or shooting of a speargun by any <br />person while in or upon the San Marcos River without a permit issued by the Parks <br />City of San Marcos Page 19 <br />
