City Council Meeting Minutes November 16, 2021 <br />convey the police vehicles; and declaring an effective date. <br />Amending Part 1 on the Resolution by striking "five" and inserting "two" and <br />inserting "in the amount of $12,000 and three surplus police vehicles to" and <br />striking "and" and "$26,000" and replacing it with "$12,000". <br />It will read as follows: <br />The City Council approves the sale and conveyance of two surplus police <br />vehicles to the City of Sweeny in the amount of $14,000 and the sale and <br />conveyance of three surplus police vehicles to the City of Oak Ridge in the <br />amount of $12,000. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Scott asked why we were selling these cars to another <br />department instead of placing them in the auction for purchase. Chief <br />Standridge explained that in order to sell to the public, the cars must be <br />decommissioned which means removing all the add-ons that make them police <br />cars. This cost is up to $2,000 per vehicle. <br />The motion carried by the following vote: <br />For: 6 - Mayor Hughson, Council Member Baker, Mayor Pro Tem Scott, Deputy Mayor Pro <br />Tem Garza, Council Member Gleason and Council Member Prather <br />Against: 0 <br />Absent: 2 - Derrick and Council Member Gonzales <br />Council Member Baker continued the conversation about making the cars <br />available to the public even if the income to the city is less. <br />MAIN MOTION: to approve Resolution 2021-226R, as amended. The motion <br />carried by the following vote: <br />For: 5 - Mayor Hughson, Mayor Pro Tem Scott, Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Garza, Council <br />Member Gleason and Council Member Prather <br />Against: 1 - Council Member Baker <br />Absent: 1 - Council Member Gonzales <br />10. Consider approval of Resolution 2021-227R, casting all of the City's 490 votes in favor of Jane <br />Hughson to serve on the Hays Central Appraisal District Board of Directors for a two year term <br />commencing on January 1, 2022; and declaring an effective date. <br />A motion was made by Mayor Pro Tem Scott, seconded by Council Member <br />Gleason, to approve Resolution 2021-227R. <br />Mayor Hughson made a statement that she would resign her position on this <br />board after she is no longer an elected official, if the Council so chooses. <br />City of San Marcos Page 9 <br />
