A. Seek advice of legal counsel regarding a contract between the City of San <br />Marcos and the San Marcos Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for Tourism <br />Promotional Services. <br />B. Interview a candidate for appointment by the San Marcos City Council to the <br />position of Economic Development Director. <br />The Executive Session adjourned at 6:56 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2008. <br />4. Reconvene and Consider Action on Item Discussed During Executive Session. <br />The San Marcos City Council reconvened into regular session at 6:58 p.m. on Monday, <br />March 3, 2008. The following direction to staff was required from Executive Session: <br />Direction was given to staff regarding the San Marcos Hispanic Chamber of Commerce <br />on the contract with the Minority Tourism Promotional Services and the hiring of the <br />Economic Development director. <br />5. Invocation <br />Pastor Robert G. Smith, pastor of the Powerhouse Christian Center, provided the <br />invocation. <br />6. Pledge of Allegiance <br />7. Citizen Comments <br />Kenneth Lightle, 1016 M.L.K., came before the Council representing his mother Betty <br />Lightle. His concern is with trash collection and the violation notice his mother received <br />regarding the placement of her trash containers. The problem is that she is 91 years old <br />and weighs 122 pounds and cannot move the container herself. As the son of an elderly <br />parent, he asked the council to consider the problem of senior citizens, as he is sure there <br />are others faced with the same situation. He reported that his mother said she tries to <br />keep her yard clean and pay her taxes, and doesn't want to go be fined or go to court. <br />She should be able to meet the ordinance without jeopardizing her health. Collette <br />Jamison informed him of a program for the disabled and elderly and said she would give <br />his contact information to Public Works. <br />8. Staff Reports <br />There were no staff reports. <br />9. City Council Reports <br />C.J. Morgan, Student Liaison, reported they are looking at unique things other <br />universities have done to teach respect for the community with new students.
