(Note: proposed building code amendments are underlined) <br />Chapter 9, Sprinklers, Standpipes and Alarm Systems, is amended to read as follows: <br />901.5 General <br />Approved automatic sprinkler equipment meeting the requirements of 901 shall be <br />installed in buildings as follows: <br />1. Residential occupancies with a gross total enclosed floor area of greater than <br />15,000 sq ft. <br />2. All buildings, except those classified as residential occupancies with a gross <br />total enclosed floor area of greater than 20,000 sq ft <br />3. All buildings four (44) stories or more or having a height of 40 ft or higher. <br />4. Basements having floor areas exceeding 2500 sq ft (232 m2) when used as <br />workshops or for manufacture, repair, sale or storage of combustible materials or <br />when used as lounges or nightclubs regardless of the size. See 402.4.1, <br />Exception 2. <br />5. In buildings which do not have suitable access, as set forth in 703.2, to each <br />story above grade on at least one accessible side of the building. Openings which <br />are glazed with security glazing designed to withstand breakage shall not be <br />considered access openings. <br />6. See Chapter 36, Standard Fire Prevention Code. <br />7. See 408.2.2, 412.2.6 and 412.2.2.7. <br />8. Spray finishing booth, area or room shall comply with Chapter 10 of the <br />Standard Fire Prevention Code. <br />
