He stated they did not want to wait until the <br />expiration of this franchise for public access to be a part of <br />the franchise. The City Attorney advised the City could require <br />public access but has not done so, and Mission Cable could <br />provide public access voluntarily. Mayor Morris stated she did <br />not think the City should require Mission to provide public <br />access. Steve Smith of Karnack stated LBJ Company will retain <br />Channel 9 in the transfer. Mayor Morris encouraged Mr. Newman to <br />talk with Mission and send them a letter of support. Jesse <br />Estrada who owns and operates a video store stated they rent <br />video cameras on a regular basis, and there is a lot of interest <br />in San Marcos for this. Bill Fuller stated he wants Mission to <br />provide public access and the citizens group for public access <br />will provide their own funding, but they want the City to make <br />the effort to get public access. Mayor Morris moved to amend the <br />Ordinance in PART 2., Section 1.02 to state Mission is a limited <br />partnership in Delaware and Mr. Guerra seconded the motion, which <br />passed unanimously. The Council voted unanimously for adoption <br />of the Ordinance on third and final reading. Mr. Gilley and Mr. <br />Taylor were directed to talk with Mission regarding public access <br />and requested Mr. Newman talk with Mission also. <br /> <br />Mayor Morris introduced for consideration reconsideration of <br />three Zoning Ordinances. The Council did not wish to reconsider <br />any of these Ordinances.
