The Commission plays a vital role which is prescribed under <br />State law and the City Charter. <br />Recommendation: The only suggestion is to add responsibilities for reviewing drainage - <br />related issues that would normally be directed to the Drainage Advisory Board if the <br />City Council accepts the recommendation to retire the Board. <br />21. San Marcos Industrial Development Corporation Board of Directors- No change. <br />The role of the seven - member (7) SM Industrial Development Corporation is to consider <br />and authorize the issuance of bonds to promote and develop commercial, industrial, and <br />manufacturing enterprises. Although the board has not met within the past year, the <br />board is established by state statute under the Development Corporation Act of 1979. <br />The Commission recommends that this board should continue as mechanism for <br />economic development opportunities. <br />Recommendation: The only suggestion is to review the Articles of Incorporation that <br />established the Board to ensure compliance. <br />22. Senior Citizen Advisory Board- No change. <br />• The seven - member (7) Senior Citizen Advisory Board was established to provide advice <br />on matters involving senior citizens in San Marcos. This is the only board that provides <br />input and recommendations about senior citizen programs and facilities. <br />23. Transportation Advisory Board- Retire. <br />The Board is composed of seven (7) members who serve staggered three -year terms and <br />act in an advisory capacity to the City Council, other City boards and the City Manager <br />on matters involving transportation in the San Marcos community. <br />Recommendation: The Commission understands that this Advisory Board was formed <br />to review the City's Transportation Master Plan, review the initial Capital Improvements <br />Program (CIP) process, and serve as a Blue Ribbon Bond Committee. All of these <br />assignments have been completed. <br />24. Veteran Affairs Advisory Committee- No change. <br />This Committee is composed of seven (7) members and acts in an advisory capacity to <br />the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and the City staff on issues that are unique to <br />• veterans within San Marcos and Hays County. <br />14 <br />
