1.6 TASK 4 -INTERMEDIATE DESIGN
The Engineer will:
1.6.1 Prepare an intermediate design plan and supporting documents for the Project, including
plan and profile, in sufficient detail to indicate clearly the problems involved including
approximate locations of the existing utilities within the Project site or right-of--way and
anticipate the design, if appropriate, of solutions to minimize conflicts.
1.6.2 Show on the plan existing topographical features including improvements within and
outside the right-of--way necessary for the design of the Project. Also show any fence or
structural encroachments, and identify whether or not removal is necessary for construction
and/or utility relocation.
1.6.3 When applicable, show adequate existing property-line elevations, proposed top-of--curb
elevations, proposed top-of-channel elevations and adequate proposed flow-line elevations on
the profiles.
1.6.4 Under separate cover, submit one set of hydrological and hydraulic calculations to
support the proposed drainage design. Also plot and submit the energy lines and hydraulic grade
lines on one set of prints for review by the City.
1.6.5 When both drainage and street reconstruction are included in the Project, show the
proposed drainage facilities and street improvements on the same plan and profile sheets.
1.6.6 Include street and drainage cross sections for every fifty-foot station (plus any
intermediate stations if field conditions so dictate) at a scale of 1" = 40'-0" horizontally and 1" _
10'-0" vertically unless otherwise directed by the City. These designs will combine the
application of sound engineering principles with a high degree of economy. Design standards of
other agencies, when approved by City, will be used when so directed by the City's Project
Manager.
1.6.7 Unless directed otherwise by the City, provide drawings that include, but are not limited
to plan and profile sheets with the plan portion at a scale of 1" = 40' - 0" and the profile portion
at a scale of 1" = 40'-0" horizontally and 1" = 10'-0" vertically. All scales should be
conveniently located on each sheet and have the scaled number ratios on corresponding
horizontal or vertical scales readily noticeable. All drawings will be submitted on standard 11"
by 17" sheets (untrimmed).
1.6.8 Furnish a cost estimate based on the plan and supporting documents of the proposed
construction (excluding land costs). The cost estimate will be based on the latest unit prices for
similar work as provided by the Engineer. The City will assist in providing unit prices and
approve any adjustments to reflect the ease or difficulty of constructing the Project.
~~IB;e.iS'x6; 1c,£'4Slaa~ii
6
