distribution to the utility companies by the City. The Engineer will incorporate comments
received from these utility companies. The Engineer understands that utility companies which
have been identified as being affected by this Project include the City Water and Wastewater,
San Marcos Electric Utility (aerial), Centerpoint Gas, Century Telephone, Time Warner Cable
and Grande Communications.
1.2.4 Field Investi atg ions. Perform two field investigations to verify existing information and
gain additional project information.
1.2.5 Topographical Data & Survey. Utilize the existing topographical survey data and the
existing geotechnical report, and other reports as necessary to evaluate Project design
requirements. Evaluate the watershed delineation and storm drain system requirements and
review proposed design based on information provided by the City.
1.3 TASK 3 -WATER QUALITY PONDS
The Engineer will:
1.3.1 Design of Water Quali Ponds. Design water quality ponds which will serve as
demonstration ponds. The Engineer will design the ponds to provide a limited level of polishing
and, in conjunction with other Best Management Practices ("BMP") as investigated by the
Engineer, will assist in the removal of trash and debris. Engineering evaluation and design of the
ponds will include:
a) Identification of specific pond locations and sizing (based on available land area);
b) Coordination with City departments to determine water quality needs,
maintenance requirements, design criteria, aesthetic treatments and criteria;
c) Determination of minimal design standards that will serve as the basis for
developing the criteria that will be used by the City for other similar ponds. The
water quality will be enhanced as best as possible given the constraints of this
project, however, it is anticipated that greater standards will be established for
future projects;
d) Evaluation, identification, and design of structural BMPs, in addition to the water
quality ponds (i.e., trash racks, in-line system filtration systems);
e) Design and development of construction plans to include:
1) Water Quality Pond plans and cross sections;
2) Water Quality Pond calculations and summary sheet;
3) Water Quality Pond details; and
4) Design of discharge structure.
f) Landscape Architecture -limited only to the immediate vicinity surrounding the
proposed water quality ponds to include:
1) Aesthetic hardscape treatment to pond edges, crushed granite trails connection
to pedestrian observation areas, and minimal site furnishing selection and
locations.
HNTB Agreement -Hutchison Drainage
4
