Box 907
San Marcos, TX

78666

Dear Shelly:

On behalf of the probation department staff, I would like to ex-
press my appreciation to the San Marcos Public Library for its committ-
ment to adult education.

Your program helps to fill the void in the lives of many of our
under-educated clients, and gives them needed confidence to cope with
the problems they may encounter in their adult lives. Too often in
our office we see clients whose legal problems are aggravated by their
inability to function in a literate society. As a former G.E.D. in-
structor within our department, I personally shared with clients their
successes in obtaining their G.E.D. or masterina new reading skills.

Since our tutoring program was discontinued in San Marcos, we
have turned to your program as a referral source for clients, and hope
to continue doing so.

In addition, I would add that your extended program hours beyond
regular working hours is an added incentive for our working clients
to further their education.

It is hoped
funding sources

LB:ihc

that you will gather additional community support and
to continue the good work.

Sincerely, z;(O4-Q d~~

LAURA BREEDEN
