<br />AFFIRMATIVE MARKETI.NG..POLICY <br /> <br />~lt~ 1;.~n't.QfpQ11cY <br /> <br />In accordance with the goals of its Rental Rehabilitation Program and in <br />furtherance of its commitment to non-discrimination and equal opportunity <br />in housing, the City of San Marcos hereby establishes procedures to <br />affirmatively market units rehabilitated under this program. These <br />procedures are intended to achieve the objectives of Title VII of the Civil <br />Rights Act of 1968 and Executive Order 11063. <br /> <br />It is the intent of the City of San Marcos that individuals of similar <br />economic levels in the same housing market area should have available <br />to them a like range of housing choices regardless of their race, <br />color, religion, sex, and national origin. <br /> <br />The City of San Marcos is committed to the goal of affirmative marketing. <br />It will accomplish this goal in the City's Rental Rehabilitation Program <br />through a specific set of steps that the City and participating owners will <br />follow. These goals will be or have been attained through the following <br />procedures: <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />InforminK.J;.he PJJblic.,...pl)t.entialtenant~l, .and. owners. abo1JtFederal ..fair <br />ho1Jsing ... l..a w s. ...and . .affi rma.t iye. . market inK."p'Q 1 1.c 1.6.5: <br /> <br />The City has informed the public, potential tenants, and property <br />owners about this policy and fair housing laws by the following means: <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Placing special news releases in a newspaper of general <br />circulation. <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Holding public meetings to inform property owners with an <br />interest in rental rehabilitation. <br /> <br />In addition, when actual funding becomes available and final <br />applications are accepted, an additional news release will be made to <br />a newspaper of general circulation. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />.Informing.J2ersonsof . all.raci¡;Ü, etbni.c and. g.endergro1Jps of <br />availabilitY.0.1.u11its.: <br /> <br />The City of San Marcos will notify the San Marcos Housing Authority at <br />the time it enters into a contract to rehabilitate a rental unit. <br />Such notice will include property identification. existing and <br />proposed occupancy and an anticipated rehabilitation completion date. <br />The City will further give the Housing Authority 10 working days of <br />notice of the actual need for occupancy of a unit. The Housing <br />Authority will then notify applicants on its waiting list of the <br />upcoming vacancy. <br /> <br />In the event the Housing Authority is unable to find or qualify an <br />eligible tenant from its waiting list, it will utilize special <br />outreach efforts to inform persons otherwise not likely to apply. <br />
