<br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS <br />DISTRIBUTION LINE EXTENSION POLICY <br /> <br />V. PRIMARY LINE CAPACITY - The City may at its discretion con- <br />struct system addi tions or improvements such as primary <br />overhead lines of greater capacity and/or with more phase <br />conductors than are required to serve premises, except that <br />the applicant will pay only the estimated cost to construct <br />facilities adequate to provide the requested service in sit- <br />uations where an excess construction payment is required. <br /> <br />VI. RIGHT-OF-WAY - In all cases, primary and secondary lines of <br />the city which are to be constructed on privately owned <br />property shall be constructed only on, along and/or across <br />rights-of-way which permit ready access from public roads <br />and shall be covered by properly executed standard easements <br />or platted subdivision easements legally recorded which, <br />among other things, grant the City the right to construct, <br />operate and maintain said lines, including the necessary <br />anchors, guys and appurtenances, and along with the right to <br />rebuild, replace or remove the same. <br /> <br />VII. CUSTOMER WIRING REQUIREMENTS - The party applying for a new <br />service extension shall install, at the customer's expense, <br />the weatherhead and all service entrance wiring through the <br />meter base to the main disconnect switch, together with all <br />other wiring on the customer's side of the meter. 'All such <br />wiring shall be installed in accordance with the provisions <br />of the applicable city codes and the National Electric Code <br />and any other safety codes promulgated by other public <br />bodies governing the location being wired. The City shall <br />have no responsibility to ascertain whether or not any <br />wiring installed by or for the customer is in compliance <br />with such codes, except that power will not be made avail- <br />able until said wiring has been passed by the appropriate <br />governing body, if applicable. The City reserves the right <br />to refuse service to premises which, at its sole discretion, <br />are considered to be unsafe. <br /> <br />IX. <br /> <br />VIII.METER LOCATION - A meter location shall be selected which <br />permits ready access for the City's meter personnel. The <br />city's will install overhead service lines to a point which <br />is nearest its existing facilities. The customer shall pay <br />actual cost of installing additional poles and conductor to <br />provide service to alternate locations or along routes other <br />than those specified by the City. The meter shall be placed <br />on the open side of the building in those situations where <br />access to an area is fenced or otherwise restricted unless <br />arrangements satisfactory to the City's are made. <br /> <br />REQUIREMENTS TO TAKE SERVICE - The customer shall be obli- <br />gated to take service within 30 days after it is made avail- <br />able. If after this period of time the customer fails to <br />take service, the City may impose the minimum monthly charge <br />
