<br />agency making the repair to the pavement surface shall be <br /> <br />furnished to the Public Works Department at that time. <br /> <br />If <br /> <br />no permit number is available, a permit must be obtained <br /> <br />before an inspector will be furnished. <br /> <br />No backfill will be <br /> <br />considered acceptable unless this call has been received <br /> <br />and the Construction Inspector has an opportunity to check <br /> <br />the backfill operations. <br /> <br />If the Contractor/Utility refuses <br /> <br />to remove and replace, under City inspection, this <br /> <br />unacceptable backfill, then this work will be accomplished <br /> <br />by City personnel and backcharged to the Contractor/Utility <br /> <br />responsible for the work. <br /> <br />Backfill operations may begin <br /> <br />one hour after notifying the Public Works Department, if <br /> <br />the Inspector has not arrived. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />All excess water and mud must be removed from the trench <br /> <br />prior to backfilling. <br /> <br />Any backfill placed during a rainy <br /> <br />period or at other times where excess water cannot be <br /> <br />prevented from entering the trench will be considered <br /> <br />temporary and must be removed as soon as weather permits. <br /> <br />:3 . <br /> <br />Once the cut has been made and interim backfill is desired, <br /> <br />the fill will be sufficiently compacted and surfaced with a <br /> <br />minimum of one-inch cold mix to accommodate traffic on <br /> <br />major streets. <br /> <br />Major streets shall be defined as one whose <br /> <br />width, when measured from face of curb to face of curb, <br /> <br />excseds thirty (30) feet. <br /> <br />Liability remains as under <br /> <br />IILiability for street cuts" above. <br /> <br />The cut must be <br /> <br />permanently backfilled within two weeks of the date the <br /> <br />backfill was accepted. <br /> <br />Any Utility/Contractor who fails to <br /> <br />comply with this requirement will be charged $50 per cut. <br /> <br />5 <br />
