<br />A Director may, with the approval of the Director of <br />Personnel, the City Manager or Assistant City Manager, <br /> <br />authorize a temporary promotion to insure the proper <br />performance of a City function while a position is <br /> <br />vacant, or if the position's regular incumbent is <br /> <br />temporarily absent. <br /> <br />Employees who are temporarily <br /> <br />promoted may be additionally compensated for the duration <br />of their temporary promotion at a pay rate determined by <br /> <br />the Compensation Policies. <br /> <br />Temporary assignment pay <br /> <br />shall be considered on a case-by-case basis and shall be <br />determined by the Department Director and the Director of <br /> <br />Personnel with the approval of the City Manager or the <br />Assistant City Manager. <br /> <br />K. <br /> <br />TRANSFERS <br /> <br />A transfer is the assignment of an employee from one <br /> <br />position to another position in the same pay <br />classification in the same or a different department. <br /> <br />Directors shall have the authority to transfer employees <br /> <br />to other positions within their department. <br /> <br />Transfers <br /> <br />may be made for administrative convenience or upon the <br /> <br />request of an employee. <br /> <br />An employee may also be <br /> <br />transferred when the employee applies for and is selected <br />for a position in a different department. <br /> <br />-12- <br />
