<br />insure that outside employment does not, in any way, <br /> <br />detract from the employee's performance, or create a <br /> <br />conflict of interest between the employee's City job and <br /> <br />the outside interest. <br /> <br />Discretion and good judgment must <br /> <br />be the underlying guideline; however, the following <br />general rules shall be followed: <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />In no instance can any employee hold a job or engage <br />in an outside business interest which conflicts with <br /> <br />a City job or which would give the employee an undue <br /> <br />or unfair advantage because of the employee's <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />position with the City. <br />The outside business activity must not interfere in <br /> <br />any manner with the employee's City job <br /> <br />responsibilities, performance or attendance. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />Employees may not use City property, equipment, <br />facilities, or telephones for outside business <br /> <br />activities or for personal gain. <br />Outside activities must not be conducted during <br /> <br />4. <br /> <br />normal working hours. <br />All full time employees desiring to engage in outside <br /> <br />employment must submit a written request to their <br />Department Director describing the proposed outside <br /> <br />business activity prior to engaging in any such <br /> <br />activity. <br /> <br />The Department Director, the Director of <br /> <br />-16- <br />
